POSITION SUMMARY

To perform clerical and receptionist duties and maintains clinical records in support of a nursing unit.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Maintains electronic and paper medical records.
  • Scans and uploads paper records into the medical record as needed.
  • Pull and sort records up medical records requests by residents, family members, professionals and for the community
  • Data entry and clerical work
  • Performs clerical duties related to admission and discharge of residents
  • Orders supplies and equipment, receives and places items in proper storage area
  • Compiles new charts, maintains current charts, and assembles discharged charts in proper order
  • Prepares all medical records for closure, physician signature and completion of discharge summary
  • Supplies adequate ancillary charge records for residents
  • Attends in-service training and departmental meetings
  • Abides by established facility and departmental policies including maintaining confidentiality as appropriate
  • Responsible for planning and procurement of nursing supplies and equipment
  • Maintain inventory system and ensure charges are appropriately applied
  • Assist with development of supply budgets, organize storage areas and supervise the use of supplies.
  • Inventory and stock medication rooms and supply closets.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Educational Requirements and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Language Ability:
o Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, speaking the primary language of the residents.
o Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
o Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Mathematical Skills:
o Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Cognitive Demands:
o Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Computer Skills:
o Ability to use Microsoft Windows, including Word and Excel. Ability to use email and the Internet.

  • Competencies:
o Must demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population.
o Interacts with guests, residents and staff in a courteous and friendly manner.
o Responds promptly to resident and visitor needs.
o Responds to requests for service and assistance.
o Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time;
o Supports organization's goals and values.
o Balances team and individual responsibilities.



ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY

  • Works primarily indoors in a climate-controlled setting
  • Possible exposure to unpleasant odors
  • Possible exposure to chemicals as identified in the SDS Manual
  • Continuous exposure to residents who are ill, confused, irritable and irrational

While performing the duties of this Job, the Team Member is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
