Summary of Duties:

The Campus Recruitment and Retention Specialist develops, implements and oversees the WSU Tri-Cities (WSUTC) talent acquisition, talent retention, career development, and diversity initiatives with the aim of attracting, hiring and retaining a top-level, inclusive workforce.

Works closely with hiring managers to understand their team's work and culture, designs and implements effective recruitment plans to fill open positions, and identifies and engages with candidates who might be right for current or future opportunities, by building and maintaining a pipeline of talent to support WSUTC recruitment and retention goals and initiatives.

Partners with the Vice Chancellor's, Directors, hiring managers and department administrative staff to design and train on hiring best practices, employment law, and interview skills and serve as a resource for those stakeholders seeking industry best practices in those areas. They will prepare hiring committees for interviews, provide suggestions for interview questions, review search committee matrixes and other tools to make the process more streamlined and equitable.

They will serve as a point person for any diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives undertaken by the WSUTC campus, coordinating efforts with the System DEI Officer, HRS and the broader campus community.

The Campus Recruitment and Retention Specialist will work in concert with WSUTC Leadership to ensure onboarding of campus employees is complete and robust, setting new employees up for success. They will also contribute to employee retention initiatives such as employee recognition and mentoring programs.

The successful candidate for this position may have flexibility as to their work location, however some campus work will be required.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to area of specialization and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Significant recruitment experience
  • Experience developing and presenting trainings both in-person and virtually
  • Experience working with applicant tracking systems such as Workday or PeopleAdmin
  • Knowledge of applicable employment laws, talent acquisition/management best practices, and/or human resources principles
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage relationships with multiple stakeholders with conflicting needs and timelines.
  • Highly developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential matters
  • Experience developing reports on recruitment metrics, analyzing the findings and using that analysis to improve future operations
  • Ability to work independently while at the same time being a supportive team player
  • Evidence of having contributed to initiatives that addressed diversity, equity and inclusion issues

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with LinkedIn Recruiter and LinkedIn job slots
  • Experience recruiting in higher education
  • Experience recruiting for an Advancement department or university foundation
  • Experience with proactive recruitment, especially utilizing social media
  • Knowledge of or experience with CliftonStrengths
  • Experience with Litmos, learning management system
  • Experience with executive searches
  • Experience managing and improving complex administrative processes

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
