This position is a contract role for a psych hospital in Northeast Philadelphia

Either a local contract or travel package (>50 mi with taxable hourly and nontaxable stiepends). Compensataion varies for local vs travel. Local pay $52/hr. Travel package available upon request

Provide patient care as prescribed by the physician and treatment team. Provide medical management and assessment of patients. Ensure environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population. Direct the implementation of behavior management programs and ensure consistent carry-through. Make patient & task assignments to subordinates & monitor their performance of duties. Provide training & education to staff, patients, families, & others. Document patient care ensure that data is accurate, & that it is included in the master treatment plan via timely nursing care plan updates. Work with the treatment team to provide a consistently therapeutic milieu.

JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Nursing Assessment. Completes nursing admission assessment of the patient within 16 HR, including pain, nutrition, & safety issues. Safety issues include the assessing for any restrictions in the use of special procedures such as restraint & seclusion. Ensures that the patient orientation to the unit is completed within 8º, to include inventory of possessions, explanation of rights, pain management, and safety. Assesses and documents findings when patient condition changes & communicates changes in patient status to the physician & treatment team.
2. Nursing Documentation. Documents patient progress clearly, accurately, legibly, and concisely per hospital policy. Ensures pain is addressed each shift, if indicated. Ensures that occurrences are thoroughly documented.
3. Treatment Planning. Treatment Plans are completed accurately, timely and are updated, based on a review of the patient’s progress & needs.
4. Medication Administration/Medical Mgmt. Administers medications according to departmental procedure, including obtaining vital signs and lab work, within assessment guidelines and parameters. Reports all medication errors on the Medication Error Report form and reports them to the physician promptly.
5. Milieu Management/Communication. Provides direction/leadership by directing LPNs and MHTs in the milieu mgmt of the unit. Communicates staffing needs to RN Manager/House Supervisor. Ensures assigned duties are carried out by staff each shift. Role models age and developmentally appropriate interactions. Ensures individual treatment plans are implemented and properly documented. Co-signs Treatment Plans & RN assessments.
6. Crisis Intervention. Provides appropriate intervention in psychiatric and medical crisis situations. Directs crisis response by using sound judgment and timely intervention. Completes necessary documentation and obtains orders within prescribed timelines. Ensures that patient & staff safety is maintained throughout any special treatment procedures.
7. Perform other duties & responsibilities as related to the program

Current CPR Certification and current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse License required
