Metropolis Performing Arts Centre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in the heart of downtown Arlington Heights. It houses a 329-seat professional theater, as well as a school of performing arts that includes drama, dance, and music lessons. We are actively seeking a Audience Services Supervisor to join our team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities

● Provide superb customer service to all patrons whether in person, over the phone, or via email.

● Manage and maintain the appearance of the Box Office, lobby and Coat Room, with the Audience Services Director and House Managers.

● Assist with public safety and emergency procedures as needed.

● Communicate and collaboratively problem solve with Front of House and Production staff, as well as volunteer ushers.

● Assist the Audience Services Director and House Managers in supervising volunteer ushers.

● Thorough knowledge of ticketing system (Arts-People): ticket purchases and exchanges, payment options, editing shows/events, redeeming gift certificates, processing donation letters, processing/mailing ticket purchases, reissuing gift certificates from previous ticketing systems, pulling reports.

● Ability to work unsupervised, and delegate tasks to other associates.

● Timely attendance.

● Open and close the Box Office, theater, Coat Room, and bar as needed.

● Submit End of Day reports to the Finance Manager. Assist Finance Manager and Audience Services Director in resolving reporting questions.

● Assist the department Director with interviewing and training new hires.

● Coordinate with Development Director on attendance/seating for Marquee Nights (5 per season).

● Meet with the Fundraising Events Manager to discuss logistic and staffing needs for 3-5 annual fundraising events.

● Communicate with the Saints usher coordinators for schedule, ushering needs, particularly schedule changes (canceled/added shows, etc).

● Create a biweekly schedule for all Audience Services personnel, including: Box Office Associates, House Managers, and Bartenders.

● Regular Box Office and House Manager responsibilities.

● Maintain inventory of third-party ticketing allotment. Lock seats for select performances. Process third-party payments upon arrival.

● Process payroll in the absence of the Audience Services Director.

● Assist school groups unloading and loading buses before and after field trip performance.

Weekly Schedule

● Regular Box Office hours are 12:00-4:00pm, Monday through Saturday. On performance days, the Box Office will open no later than 1 hour prior to show time, and remain open through at least the beginning of the performance.

● Regular shifts on evenings and weekends will be required for performances.

● Weekend and holiday availability are required.

● Flexible schedule, approximately 30 hours per week, depending on schedule and staffing needs.
