A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking an exempt Associate Director of Alumni Relations on the Mesa, Arizona campus. This position reports to the Director of Alumni Relations with the option to telecommute. The primary purpose of this position is to build and stengthen relationships with ATSU graduates, creating opportunities for all alumni to remain informed about the University and engaging them in activities that support ATSU's mission and its current students through various means, including sources of financial support. The Associate Director of Alumni Relations will be responsible for event management, volunteer management, creation and dissemination of digital and print communications, and direct interaction with ATSU alumni and friends.

Job Description (Duties and Responsibilities):
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with alumni, create opportunities for all ATSU alumni to stay engaged, and support the mission of the University while cultivating potential leadership and donor relationships.
  • Assume primary responsibility for work with 2-3 volunteer alumni chapter boards, coordinating meetings, organizing alumni/student engagement activities, and facilitating various board initiatives in support of the university and its students – including recruiting, training and stewarding alumni and student leaders to ensure sustained engagement in support of University Advancement goals.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations to develop and implement strategies designed to enhance Alumni Relations engagement with current ATSU students and young alumni, stewarding sustained involvement and cultivating current and future alumni leadership. Assume primary responsibility for initiatives directed at students and graduates of the ATSU Mesa campus.
  • Co-coordinate the Alumni Ambassador program, taking responsibility for facilitating connections between ATSU Mesa campus students and alumni mentors, enhancing awareness of the resource among current students, and recruiting graduates to serve as Alumni Ambassadors.
  • Travel periodically to serve as the onsite Alumni Relations liaison with venue staff and service providers at 10-15+ alumni engagement events, professional gatherings, or university events annually. Track and report on event participation and effectiveness to inform future planning decisions made by Alumni Relations and University Advancement leadership.
  • Establish and maintain professional collaboration with Advancement leadership and ATSU colleagues, with emphasis on supporting programs for ATSU Mesa campus alumni.
  • Professionally represent the public image of ATSU through in-person, phone, digital, print communication, and presentations.
  • Respond in a timely, professional fashion to alumni inquiries regarding alumni events/services and manage requests for alumni information from other University departments.
  • Play a key role in strategizing best use of the alumni/donor records system functionality to enhance alumni engagement and maximize outreach of University Advancement. (ie. tracking interactions, exploring segmented messaging based on affinity group, personalized communications, automated follow-up, optimized self-service digital resources, integration with other software or add-ons such as mass texting, QR code readers, etc.)
  • Work with Advancement Services and other internal partners to efficiently and accurately update and maintain alumni contact information.
  • Participate in student leadership activities, including events involving student government and Student Ambassadors, new student and graduating student events, and commencement ceremonies to build relationships with future alumni leaders.

Skill or Experience:

  • Three to five years higher education, nonprofit, and/or healthcare work experience is highly desirable
  • Evidence of ability to work collegially in a complex higher education institution with multiple campus locations, numerous academic programs, and numerous healthcare services
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects while communicating effectively with team members
  • Knowledge of varied digital communication channels, including effectively optimizing social media and message segmentation
  • Demonstrated skill at working with people of all ages, inferring ability to encourage sustained involvement with the University and its mission
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills
  • Strong written, interpersonal and digital communication skills - including editing, proofing and message segmentation
  • Experience managing frequent travel and facilitating onsite event logistics.

Expected salary: mid 50s; potentially negotiable based upon experience.
