Athletic Trainer (1.0 Full Time Variable Shift) Two Positions Available - Grosse Pointe Public Schools
Job description
Develops, implements, and maintains comprehensive health care programs for athletes and other patients. Under the direction of, on the prescription of, or in collaboration with a physician, the practice of athletic training includes the treatment of an individual for risk management injury prevention, clinical evaluation and assessment, immediate care and treatment, and rehabilitation and reconditioning of injury or illness, or both. The Athletic Trainer is placed in various sites for provision of services including, but not limited to, high school/college/university, outreach programming, community events and engagements, and HFHS sites.
This job posting includes two (2) positions with Grosse Pointe Public Schools located in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. The school district includes two high schools, Grosse Pointe North and South. Grosse Pointe North is a member of the Michigan High School Athletic Association with 20 sports in Class A athletics. Grosse Pointe South is also a member of the Michigan High School Athletic Association with 20 sports in Class A athletics. The athletic trainers will complete approximately 1,800 hours of coverage at their assigned schools with the bulk of the hours occurring during the school year. However, as these are full-time positions, other duties will be assigned as needed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Completion of a CAATE approved athletic training education program or educational equivalent required. Post-certification Master's degree in athletic training or related field preferred. At least two years of related and expansive work experience in all aspects of athletic training or a combination of education and experience preferred. Ability to work independently and prioritize delivery of services as needed. Adheres to community outreach or school policies, including but not limited to NCAA, NJCAA, and MHSAA while meeting expectations of community outreach programming.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Board of Certification, Inc. certified as an Athletic Trainer (ATC) required. Licensed as an Athletic Trainer (AT) through the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs required or obtained prior to date of hire. Additional certifications and credentials obtained in health care (i.e. CSCS, PES, FMS, CKTP, EMT) preferred.
