POSITION SUMMARY:

The full time Assistant Wellness Director is responsible for developing and administering wellness programs and assisting with all facets of the wellness center operations. Responsibilities may include development of staff, implementing quality standards and best practices for member onboarding and retention systems, and other healthy-living programs designed to support people in all aspects of their health.

CORE EXPECTATIONS:

1. PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

· Provides an average of 20 hours a week of direct program delivery including leading small group training classes, wellness classes, group exercise, and personal training.

· Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.

· Assists in the scheduling, implementing, and staffing of wellness programs and special events

· Help develop new program opportunities with the MetroWest YMCA like community workshops and incentive programs for members

· Establish and collaborate with Director of Health Integrations for new outreach opportunities for our group exercise, personal training, and small group training classes within the community.

· Maintains accurate records, files and data collection procedures for all program participants and members, to include management of member medical clearances.

2. STAFF ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

· Assist in staff management and evaluations.

· Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals by providing in service training and educational opportunities.

· Assists in leading regular staff meetings.

3. MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

· Participate in membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members, including onboarding and intake initiatives.

· Develop member engagement/ incentive programs.

· Create a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions.

4. FACILITY MANAGEMENT

· Manage Wellness Center equipment and facility cleanliness.

· Purchases equipment, parts and supplies as required.

· Monitors daily operations to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies.

5. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & SUPPORT

· Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.

· Engages in collaborative relationships with community organizations in order to strengthen support and build community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's degree in exercise science, health science and fitness, or a related field.

2. 1-2 years experience leading wellness programs.

3. Current national certification in group exercise, personal training, CPR, First Aid and AED required.

4. Competency in relationship building skills, communication skills, and project management.

5. Bilingual preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise and demonstrate program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations. Must have the ability to hear and see activities and problems as they occur.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $20.00 - $22.60 per hour!
