The School of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training at Pacific University Oregon invites applications for a 9-month, full-time faculty position in our entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. Academic rank is dependent on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The position is available beginning in the 2023/2024 academic year (August start date). The Physical Therapy Program is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our academic community through their teaching, scholarship, and service. General Information: The Physical Therapy Program at Pacific University offers education for entry into the profession. Pacific University is a comprehensive independent university located 18 miles west of Portland, Oregon. The University is comprised of the Colleges of Health Professions, Optometry, Business, Education, and Arts and Sciences that serve approximately 2,000 graduate and 1,900 undergraduate students. The College of Health Professions consists of the Schools of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, Dental Hygiene Studies, Healthcare Administration and Leadership, Graduate Psychology, Pharmacy, and Audiology.


Special Position Characteristics: The successful candidates will be expected to teach in one or more content areas including:

  • Research Methods and Biostatistics,
  • Evidence-based Practice,
  • Physical Agents,
  • Therapeutic exercise,
  • other content areas based on candidate’s expertise and the needs of the Program.


Additional responsibilities include scholarship activities, student advisement, student capstone project direction, curriculum development, service at all levels of the University, and service to the profession. Specific assignments are dependent upon program needs. Candidates must be committed to student-centered education as well as working cooperatively with faculty and staff in the School, College, and University.

Qualifications

A terminal academic degree (PhD, EdD, DSc) in physical therapy or in a related field is required. Applicants who are in the candidacy stage of a terminal academic degree will be considered.. Board certification in a specialty practice area is preferred.


Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of clinical/professional experience and must possess an Oregon Physical Therapist license or be eligible for licensure in Oregon. Prior teaching, research, and service experience is preferred. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
