We are looking for an Assistant Operations Manager for our Hanover Township, PA warehouse location!

The Assistant Operations Manager … ensures timely and safe delivery of all products to our customer base. The AOM supervises receipt, order fulfillment, transportation, storage, inventory control and protection of all material, equipment and products. With the Branch Manager’s guidance, the ABM helps develop, implement and maintain warehousing/distribution standards and procedures, develops pick productivity and loading efficiency plans and conducts daily inventory checks on material and equipment.

In this exciting role, you will:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Assist with facility management, including planning, scheduling and direction of receipt, storage, shipment of product and issuance of materials and equipment.
  • Coordinate and ensure receipt of proper inventory, advise Customer Service on quality received, recommend action for product that does not adhere to ASC quality standards.
  • Ensure that all products are stored in a safe and compliant manner in adherence with OSHA standards.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate and update an efficient pick productivity of all products.
  • Conduct daily physical inventory of equipment.
  • Supervise handling, storage and disposal of warehouse waste.
  • Guide Supervisors to successfully oversee work teams – managing employees/workflow/output to meet daily goals/business expectations.
  • Assist Branch Manager in hiring and retaining an engaged employee base with a focus on safety and productivity; foster employee growth through learning/development, performance evaluation, mentoring and coaching.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate and maintain performance measures, work schedules and duties for distribution center employees. Ensure that individual and team metrics are aligned with business objectives.
  • Handle employee relations issues following established protocols; resolve all matters timely with appropriate communication and care.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of a preventive safety program, foster a culture of safety awareness; work with Branch Manager and Safety/DOT Compliance Manager to educate employees on safety/security expectations, enforce safety standards in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Complete other special projects and assignment with minimal guidance.
  • Follow and enforce all company expectations, handbook and operations policies and procedures.

Do you have the following qualifications?
  • Ability to plan/organize/direct the receipt, shipment, storage and recordkeeping processes for warehouse/distribution operation
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); AS400 experience a plus
  • Positive, can-do attitude with sound decision making skills
  • Good communication, interpersonal capability with all levels of internal and external audiences
  • Skill in instructing staff in pick productivity procedures, safety practices/OSHA standards, warehousing and equipment operation
  • Ability to supervise and direct the work of others, elicit cooperation from and maintain collaborative work teams
  • Ability and willingness to work with purpose and a strong sense of urgency.
Your education & experience should be similar to:
  • HS diploma/GED required; Associate’s degree in Operations, Business, Supply Chain Management or related discipline desired (will consider equivalent combination of education and work experience)
  • 4+ years progressive distribution experience, including at least one year of supervisory experience of at least 15 employees
  • Knowledge of best practices for principles of supervision, warehousing/distribution, safety and inventory tracking procedures
  • Forklift driver certification; valid unexpired driver’s license/proof of current insurance

  • Some vibrations and noise from forklift and or other equipment
  • May occasionally work near some moving mechanical parts such as lifts May encounter some outdoor weather conditions

The required physical abilities to perform this job:
  • Primarily sitting, with some walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Occasional reaching and carrying with hands and arms, ability to lift and carry 60 pounds.
  • Able to hear and speak into telephone, close visual work on a computer terminal, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate keyboard, mouse, other technical instruments and warehouse equipment.
