Assistant Manager, Escorted Tour Operations
Hybrid-Remote

You will promote and develop best practices for providing exceptional services while effectively considering guest and employee experience, financial impact, and overall success of departmental performance. Our company are part of the Carnival Corporation & plc family. This position will require residency in Alaska from April until September but allows for conditional remote work from September through March.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares seasonal employees schedules, monitors tour operations, processes and analyzes reports.
  • Supervises the seasonal Escorted Tour Operation team and our unit’s activities.
  • Applies knowledge of company product, policies, and procedures to ensure our guests experience meets company standards.
  • Provides administrative, clerical support, and problem resolution to seasonal Escorted Teams.
  • Effectively schedule tour directors on our branded escorted products for both Holland America Line and Princess Cruises.
  • Participates in the recruiting, interviewing and hiring of seasonal staff.
  • Assists in the administrative onboarding of employees.
  • Assist in cresting and facilitating training, coaching and development programs for seasonal staff.
  • Oversee employee relocation, housing and other logistics are arranged and confirmed.
  • Responsible for the supervision and corrective action of seasonal personnel.

Requirements:

  • This job normally requires a professional level of knowledge in escorted tour operations and/or Alaska tourism equivalent to that which would be acquired through the completion of some college or an Associate’s degree and/or related experience in tourism field. Demonstration of directly related work experience, may be considered in lieu of the educational requirement.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience in a business environment is required.
  • Travel is required for this position.
  • Current passport is required
  • Must be able to enter legally enter Canada multiple times throughout the Alaska and the Yukon season.
  • Current, valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record is required. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be requested.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Participates in HAP’s sustainability program, aka “Sustain Alaska & the Yukon”, and efforts by actively recycling (where available), reducing waste, and educating guests about our commitment to the environment.
  • Participate in HAP’s safety culture to ensure a safe workplace for all team members and a safe vacation experience for all guests.

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Widespread knowledge of various computer applications, including Word and Excel, with a strong aptitude to learn new systems.
  • Ability to prioritize work, maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment.
  • Ability to clearly communicate, verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees, management, and customers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.
  • Demonstrate an ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate, coordinate and collaborate with multiple divisions, departments, management, guests, and staff.
  • Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures, and guidelines including all company health and safety standards.
