Requirements

Minimum two years’ experience in a hotel assistant general manager’s position, or similar hotel management position

Available to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the hotel, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Marriott front desk or management experience preferred, but not required.

Knowledge of Fosse PMS preferred, but not required.

Hotel sales or sales-event coordinator experience preferred and very helpful, but not required

Proficiency in various computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and other software as necessary.

Excellent literacy skills necessary for event coordination, reports, administrative and data interpretation.

Highly developed oral and written communication skill.

Role model leadership consistently demonstrating high level of quality service and guest satisfaction.

Must be reliable, punctual and committed to working in tandem with the general manager.

Responsibilities

Oversight of the hotel operation when the general manager is not on the premises.

Assists the general manager to in sustaining and improving guest service scores to always be above rand averages and brand thresholds.

Is passionate about adhering to Marriott brand and company standard operating procedures.

Participates in brand and company scheduled meetings and team conferences as requested by the general manager.

Direct responsibility over front desk operations and associates.

Trains, coaches, inspires and mentors to develop associates and ensure engagement.

Assists the general manager in interviewing applicants, screening and new hire procedures.

Assists the general manager in leading the team to exceed guest expectations and company expectations.

Resolves guest complaints as appropriate following brand resolution standards.

Assists general manager with strategic planning to achieve short and long-term goals.

Some shift work as scheduled based on the needs of the business.

Covers some shifts when scheduled coworkers are unavailable.

Assists director of sales in preparing sales contracts and event coordination.

Assists director of sales in coordinating event detail directly with meeting planners and catering companies.

Prepares banquet event orders and other sales administrative tasks assigned.

Assists in setting-up and taking-down conference room layout.

Assists in welcoming meeting planners and clients at the start of events when assigned.

Takes initiative to assist and support other departments when there is a staff shortage.

Assumes other duties and responsibilities assigned by the general manager.
