The mission of the NC State University Department of Athletics is to prepare student-athletes to compete at the highest level and to inspire them to be leaders now and for the future by providing the best environment to achieve their athletic, academic, and personal aspirations as well as providing support for the professional development of our coaches and staff, all within the role of the greater institutional relationships to the University.

This position will work within the Facilities unit of the Athletics Department.

Essential Job Duties
The Assistant Director of Athletic Turf and Grounds in Athletics Grounds will maintain athletic turf-grass to established expectations. This position will work closely with the Director of Turf & Grounds for Athletic Department on our management practices.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Preparing athletic fields and facilities for practices, games and special events,
  • Providing assistance in the day to day maintenance of facilities equipment including plumbing and electrical,
  • Working athletic and special events as scheduled.


Work may require time on nights, weekends, and holidays.

Other Responsibilities
  • This position has designated as Essential Personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule.
  • This position may assist with snow and ice removal under the direction of a supervisor.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience/Education
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications: North Carolina Pesticide License may be required and can be obtained within six months of employment; North Carolina Commercial Driver’s License may be required.

Other Required Qualifications
  • Prior experience in athletic field maintenance.
  • Ability to lift 30-60 pounds frequently and 90 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 or more years of prior experience in athletic field maintenance.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in landscape, horticulture, or turf grass.
  • NC Pesticide License.

Required License or Certification
  • A valid NC Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, and must be maintained.
