Classical Preparatory School provides a traditional classical education to scholars from twos through 12th grade. We were the first classical charter school in the state of Florida, located just north of Tampa. A classical/liberal arts education is the educational gold standard for creating innovators, thinkers, and leaders. Classical Prep aims to provide the tools needed for our scholars to excel in higher education and to be moral and intellectual leaders in society, something more relevant than ever in today’s complex and ever-changing world.



Position Summary

Early Academy provides an inspiring introduction to a classical education for little minds. The Assistant Director at Early Academy, a 12-month role, is responsible for working cooperatively with the Director in the day-to-day operations of the program ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal standards and other duties which may be identified on an ongoing basis. He/She will assist in being a leader of the school and central point of contact for all stakeholders, including children, families, staff, community partners, vendors, and licensing agencies. This position requires strong supervisory, leadership, and communication skills, along with a warm and nurturing disposition. The Assistant Director at Early Academy will report to the Director, collaborating closely with Classical Prep’s CEO and COO.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years of successful teaching in an early childhood program
  • Leadership experience in a preschool or school setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood or related field or relevant experience
  • Meets minimum preparation, experience, and/or any state-required credentials to comply with applicable state regulations and accrediting boards
  • ELC Director I Certification with early education and supervisory experience
  • Sound knowledge of early child development, State Licensing requirements, and policies
  • Maintains a current certificate for the four-hour first-aid and four-hour adult/child/infant CPR course Knowledge of the VPK program

Duties and Responsibilities

The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position.

Fiscal Management

  • Keep copies of the long forms submitted to the state and communicated anticipated revenue to the COO upon submission of forms to the state
  • Ensure VPK vouchers are turned in by the deadline to receive funding from the state
  • Charge accounts in Brightwheel at the beginning of each month. Track payments for scholars, including but not limited to program fees, tuition payments, and fundraising monies
  • Purchase food, supplies, and equipment as needed in collaboration with the Director of Early Academy
  • Keep an electronic inventory of supplies

Human Resources

  • Maintain accurate records and files for staff
  • Assist leadership with scheduling, coordinating, and participating in the interview process
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new employees (collect paperwork and help with scheduling
  • fingerprinting, policies, and procedures)
  • Oversee day-to-day staffing schedules and maintain appropriate teacher-child ratios at all times.
  • Coordinate and plan daily break schedules
  • Ensure staff adherence to schedules
  • Assist in tracking teacher certification progress and ensure teachers are completing necessary training and keeping current with certifications
  • Work with Director to provide support to teachers

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with licensing requirements of the Department of Children and Families and Early Learning Coalition as well as all other applicable county, state, and federal laws, and regulations
  • Plan and implement health and safety programs, including universal health precautions, emergency procedures, and facility and equipment safety
  • Assist in scheduling training required by state licensing such as First Aid, CPR, Medication, and Epi-pen, and training required by federal and OSHA standards
  • Keeps the Director informed of any necessary information regarding the care and safety of children
  • Assist and accept responsibility in other daily center duties that might be temporary in the event other personnel are not available
  • Adhere to mandatory reporting guidelines
  • Ensure facility is sanitized daily
  • Communicate with Property Works and/or facilities department as needed
  • Implement site wide safety checks
    • Classroom/child safety
    • Playground
    • Parking lot
    • Common areas

Communication

  • First point of contact for parent concerns and questions
  • Assist Director in all communications on Brightwheel

Other Duties

  • Oversee and assist with school events as assigned by the Director
  • Create and track curriculum, book, and class inventory lists and make suggestions for purchasing needs to Director
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate field trips
  • Assist with PD sessions, scheduling, and prep
  • Coordinate pictures and yearbook with a photography company
  • Work with the Director to oversee summer camp

Other responsibilities as assigned by the CEO, COO.

Compensation and Terms of Employment
We offer a competitive compensation package based on experience and performance. This is a year round position (235 days), with 10 personal/sick days (see calendar).
