Arts in Education Director

North Dakota Council on the Arts (NDCA) is looking for a fulltime, benefited Arts in Education Director, in Bismarck (telecommuting within ND considered), with an annual starting salary of $57,360 - $62,000.

Summary of Work:

The Arts in Education Director will play a key role to ensure North Dakota students have opportunities to learn through the arts. The position is responsible for developing, coordinating, and managing NDCA’s arts education program and administering multiple education related grants. These programs bring a wide range of partners providing services into schools and communities, to ensure that all within the state can experience arts and culture.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Arts in Education Director include:

  • With a wide range of key partners, and within the context of NDCA’s Strategic Plan, identify strategies for increasing student access to excellent arts education.
  • Serve as program manager for three grant programs: Artist in Residence, Arts in Education Collaboration, and Letters of Agreement/AIE: process applications and contracts with online system, coordinate grant program activities, and handle evaluation and reporting.
  • Manage North Dakota's high school Poetry Out Loud competition, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts.
  • Assure program compliance with Section 504/ADA accessibility issues and support advocacy efforts for arts/arts education.

Minimum Qualifications:

The Position Requires:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Arts Education, Arts Management, Business, or a related field
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to drive
  • Experience using Google Docs and Microsoft Office Products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams

  • Demonstrates passion and experience in diverse artforms
  • Knowledgeable or experienced in educational systems, past teaching experience a plus
  • Builds and maintains partnerships and collaborators to achieve goals
  • Streamlines processes to improve access and manageability of programs
  • Provides professional, positive, supportive, and welcoming information, in person and online
  • Possesses an understanding of the big picture and exhibits strong organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Prioritizes multiple tasks and works independently
  • Awareness of cultural equity issues
  • Desire to learn and expand
  • Is imaginative, creative, and flexible
