Cumby Construction is a fully licensed general contractor based in Cookeville, Tennessee specializing in heavy civil, industrial, and commercial projects to include water and wastewater treatment construction and remodels. We are currently seeking a full-time experience high energy, friendly, detail oriented and organized construction Accounts Payable Specialist.

This individual will assist the Accounting Department with a variety of tasks related to Accounts Payable. The ideal candidate must have a strong ability to manage multiple tasks with ever changing priorities as well as an understanding of construction accounting, proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting software, Microsoft Office to include advanced Excel knowledge, and a minimum two years of Accounts Payable experience.

Preferred experience to include but not limited to:

• General construction terminology
• Job costing
• Coding invoices
• Contract payables
• Understanding purchase orders and adhering to company guidelines as well as the terms and conditions set forth in the construction bid contract.
• Researching and resolving discrepancies with invoices and vendors
• Coordination of AP with satellite offices to ensure timely payments
• Dropbox
• Foundation, construction software a plus
• Sales and use tax experience strongly preferred
