The Lifeguard & Swim Instructor is critical to pool safety at the Y and teaches high quality, safe swimming lessons, making sure every minute counts towards learning and exploring in the water.

• Ensure safety in and around the pool area. Respond appropriately to emergencies.
• Maintain a clean, safe pool area.
• Communicate appropriately with parents, staff members and members.
• Facilitate YMCA Swim Lessons curriculum to influence the lives of students by modeling & teaching performance of water skills, water safety, and fitness.
• Keep student records as directed by the Swim Lessons Coordinator.
• Be responsible for and follow a written lesson plan for all sessions.
• Attend and be an active participant at staff meetings.

Full Time, Tuesday-Saturday, Enjoy Sunday & Mondays Off!

• Tuesday-Friday, 1:00 pm-9:30 pm
• Saturday, 10:15 am-6:15 pm

Excellent YMCA Swim Lessons training program provided. No WSI or Lifeguard Certification required. Previous experience instructing swim lessons preferred, but not required.
We are looking for someone who displays the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Must hold a current or have the ability to obtain a Red Cross Lifeguard (or equivalent certification) and CPR for the Professional Rescuer & First Aid certifications. The YMCA offers FREE Lifeguard & CPR Certification Classes to those who commit to working at the YMCA upon completion of certification. Must demonstrate the ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness and demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards. Must have a love for swimming and a desire to teach children. Adequate knowledge of basic swimming skills and the ability to communicate how to perform these skills to the students required. This position is open to candidates ages 16 and older.

The First International Bank & Trust Family Splash Center at the YMCA opened April 2019. The warm water, renovated pool will offer water slides and play features, swim lessons, fitness classes and lap swim, therapeutic jets for hydro therapy, and Birthday Party program & space.
