We're looking for enthusiastic and adaptable Assistant Child Care Director who has a passion for working with school age children (5-12 years of age) in a classroom setting in the Mission Viejo, Laguna Niguel and San Clemente areas.

This position is a FULL TIME working (9:45am-6:15pm) and assisting and planning the education curriculum Monday – Friday.

This role is a great opportunity to develop your skills in many areas such as managing employees, budgeting, marketing, mass communication, working with children and much more! As an Assistant Child Care Director you will be responsible for overall leadership of a child care center for school aged students which can include being responsible for staff supervision, daily schedule, enrollment and building parent and school relations. Assistant Directors will have their own group of children to lead during the afterschool time and assist with the administration aspects during the morning time. As a leader at the YMCA you will have the opportunity to enroll in trainings and gain experience that will provide growth and development in your skillset.

What you need to apply:

  • Experience working with children ages 5-12 years of age, in an after school program setting.
  • 12 college units with 6 units in Child Development, Education or related field & 6 units in Psychology, Sociology, Recreation, Physical Education, Art, Music, or related field. 3 units or 60 training hours in Administration required or must be enrolled in Administration class within 6 months of hire.
  • Based on minimum education, experience would range between 1-4 years.

Education & Certification:

Only one option is needed below.

Licensing Option 1: Education & Certifications: EMSA First Aid & EMSA CPR Certification, 15 college units accepted by licensing (3 units in Child Development, and 3 units or 60 training hours in Administration, and 9 units or 180 training hours in Recreation, Elementary Education or related field) required.

Licensing Option 2: Education & Certifications: 2 year college degree in related field, EMSA First Aid & EMSA CPR Certification, 15 college units accepted by licensing (3 units in Child Development, and 3 units or 60 training hours in Administration, and 9 units or 180 training hours in Recreation, Elementary Education or related field) required.

Licensing Option 3: Education & Certifications: 4 year college degree in related field, EMSA First Aid & EMSA CPR Certification, 15 college units accepted by licensing (3 units in Child Development, and 3 units or 60 training hours in Administration, and 9 units or 180 training hours in Recreation, Elementary Education or related field) required.

Licensing Option 4: A Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or a Child Development Program Director Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
