We are looking for a passionate travel writer to join our updates team and refresh our content. As a Travel Writer on our Updates Team, you will work closely with our updates lead editor to ensure that our articles stay up-to-date and engaging for our readers. Your writing skills and personal travel experiences will be key components in helping us produce high-quality content that resonates with our audience.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for travel (either domestic US, international travel, or travel hacks) and a talent for renovating and revamping existing articles, ensuring they remain engaging, accurate, and relevant for our audience. This role requires excellent time management, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with the rest of the team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and update existing travel articles to improve content quality, conversion, and ranking across relevant categories
• Collaborate with updates lead editor to refresh and update existing travel articles.
• Identify and implement areas of improvement within published content, including fact-checking, optimizing SEO, and enhancing readability
• Collaborate with category editors and the SEO and data teams to maintain content quality across all sections
• Conduct competitor and product research, as well as expert and/or peer interviews, to bolster the authority of updated content
• Participate in special event coverage, including potential shifts over holiday weekends or other peak travel periods

Qualifications and Skills:

• 1-2 years of experience writing search-friendly and strategic content in the travel industry
• Knowledge of WordPress and/or other CMS platforms
• Strong understanding of SEO best practices and the ability to optimize content for both search and user engagement
• Passion for travel and a willingness to share personal travel experiences with our readers
• Basic knowledge of KPIs and their use in identifying areas for improvement in articles
• Familiarity with using project management tools such as Asana, Trello, or ClickUp
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to give a fresh and authoritative spin to updated content
• Experience updating old content and refreshing existing articles.
• Experience conducting research, interviews, and product testing within the travel industry
• Ability to create and edit multimedia content, such as photos and videos.
• Familiarity with data and insights tools such as Surfer SEO, SEMRush, and/or Ahrefs
• Detail-oriented, with excellent time management and prioritization skills
• Ability to work autonomously and independently while also enjoying collaboration with team members
