Description Summary:

  • Responsible for the interpretation of Blue prints for the fabrication of Steel components, working from shop travelers for production requirements.
  • Provide feedback to operation Foreman for any inconsistencies of production requirements to design requirements.
  • Must be able to fit and weld complex weldments, perform layout, assembly, trial erection, and correct heat distortion. Work with tools such as tape measures in 1/16th increments, squares, levels, lasers, etc.
  • Working from Job packet and Blue prints Fit and weld steel components to specifications.
  • Perform assigned job tasks within the established schedule.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work are as established by plant policy.
  • Must adhere to all company safety and health policies.
  • Perform work assigned in accordance with Company production standards and production rates.

Process Control: Through established processes and procedures assure that company standards are maintained. Identify potential process improvements and make suggestions to management.

Quality: Responsible for the quality and accuracy of the work performed.

Safety: Contribute to the safe working environment and adherence to all company safety practices. Periodic participation in safety committee representing the department.

Housekeeping: Responsible for general cleaning of personal work area.

Asset Control: Proper use and care of company owned equipment.

Departmental Reporting: Provide reporting through data collection system and communicate any operational needs through immediate supervisor concerning production, maintenance, safety or health concerns. Maintain all documentation as required by the production and quality management system.

Skills Required:

Be able to perform shop math, interpret blue prints, and properly operate welding equipment, MIG, TIG, Stick, Oxy acetylene, hand plasma cutter and general fabrication machinery. Ability to properly weld various base metals including but not limited to Steel (mild & carbon), Stainless Steel and various alloys and aluminum. Previous qualifications of welding processes will still require qualification in house. Experience with interpretation of blue prints and the ability to use various measurement equipment to properly layout work. The ability to trouble shoot operational equipment and effectively communicate when design detail does permit proper manufacturing of components, and to communicate needs for area of responsibility to the department supervisor. Must be highly motivated self-starter and able to work independently. Employee must be able to work well with other employees in a team environment, within a rapidly developing Company. Employee must have the ability to work material handling equipment from hand truck to hoist on cranes to move materials into the proper working position.


Physical demand:

Environment: temperature extremes, possible elevated dust and noise levels.

Standing required for extended periods while fabricating and laying out details in a bent position.

Work from 8 to 12 hours per day

Ability to lift 60 pounds - periodically.


Equipment requirements:

Basic hand tools and welding helmet.
