Warehouse Materials Manager (Saugerties, NY)

The Warehouse Materials Manager assures procurement activity results in optimum cost for required level of quality materials, received on time and all material received, in-process or finished are maintained and accurately inventoried, and to assure the accuracy, timeliness and cost effectiveness of receiving and shipping operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with management annually to prepare plans and budgets for approval.
  • Assures purchasing is completed from approved vendors and includes clear and complete specifications covering applicable attributes of material purchased.
  • Assures purchasing is completed through use of company formal and controlled Purchase Orders and processed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ascertains material received is verified to include count, identification and quality, in accordance with applicable purchase order.
  • Ensures questionable material received is immediately segregated and identified prior to being released for use and all rejectable material is returned to source in a timely manner and in accordance with applicable procedures.
  • Develops and implements systems necessary to assure proper identification of materials received, stored and inventoried.
  • Maintains on-going program to identify secondary and more cost effective sources for material commonly purchased.
  • Assures purchase costs are reasonable and accurately recorded and that receiving, inventory and shipping procedures are in harmony with needs of Accounting procedures and sound financial practices.
  • Assures accurate inventories and cycle counts are conducted on all material in a timely basis.
  • Notifies management of missing inventory for review and action.
  • Assures awareness of excess inventory conditions and materials requiring inordinately long lead times.
  • Directs employees taking inventories in a manner that assures accuracy and timeliness.
  • Collaborates with management to assure accurate shipping records, full compliance with applicable transportation regulations, timely billing of customers, and adjust as needed.
  • Encourages development of personnel through selected readings, seminars, trade shows, workshops and company-sponsored studies and training programs.
  • Improves knowledge of purchasing, inventory management and shipping procedures and practices, in addition to managing people.
  • Recommends staffing changes, promotions or status changes for approval by management.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • Prior purchasing and machine shop management experience preferred.
