Summary:

Administer the Maersk Safety Program to ensure a safe, controlled, and risk-free environment while following all regulatory and company safety standards, policies, and procedures. Promote a safety culture with the goal of achieving an incident-free work environment. Administer the Maersk Food Safety and Defense Program to ensure a safe, controlled, and quality food product while following all regulatory and company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), standards, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Uphold, all QA, Production, GMP, SQF requirements, general FDA regulations, and Safety Standard Operating Procedures and practices.
  • Verify production documentation, SQF records, raw material, and production lot codes.
  • Report nonconformance concerns and deviations; recommend corrective actions for procedure or process deficiencies.
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues within high-speed industrial processing, packaging, and palletizing equipment to maintain product quality, safety, and production schedules.
  • Teach, coach, and train other Team Members on GMP’s and Food Safety topics.
  • Attend training sessions and other events requested by Operations.
  • Conduct new-hire GMP Awareness orientation.
  • Work with leadership on processes and procedures to prepare for internal and external audits.
  • Partner with Operations to help resolve facility and customer issues.
  • Conduct accident investigations and take steps to ensure safety policies are understood and followed by all parties.
  • Lead meetings to inform team members of new or changing safety policies and procedures, and address safety and/or quality issues.
  • Monitor warehouse safety supplies and notify operations of replacement needs
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date recordkeeping systems including logs, binders, and other records
  • Ability to observe and identify unsafe and at-risk acts, conditions, and behaviors.
  • Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices.
  • Lead the investigation of all incidents, including any near misses to determine causes, install preventive measures, and manage return-to-work activities in collaboration with the worker’s compensation manager.
  • Attend department meetings, training courses, webinars, and seminars as needed or requested to increase safety knowledge and share learnings with others.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks.
  • Manage safety incident reports and conduct incident/injury investigations.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications: *Must have Cold Storage Experience*

  • 5+ years’ experience in Warehouse Health & Safety, Food Safety, and/or Quality Assurance compliance.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State OSHA Regulations.
  • Knowledge of county’s Food Safety and Defense regulations/standards, governing bodies, and employer obligations for food manufacturing.
  • Forklift operational experience or trainer.
  • Hazardous Materials information knowledge/experience.
  • Extreme Temperature PPE Knowledge/experience.
  • Risk assessment and safety auditing experience.
  • Transportation safety novice knowledge (Refrigeration, lift gate, Handling aids).
  • Ability to work in Temperature controlled environment of 65-68 degrees Fahrenheit with occasional exposure to temperatures as low as -20 Fahrenheit in cold storage sites while wearing company-provided personal protective equipment and freezer gear.
  • Must be comfortable with various noise levels, at times, can be loud. Hearing protection is required in manufacturing areas.
  • Knowledge of HSE regulations and initiatives.
  • Clear written and oral communications in English. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, databases.
