This position is primarily based at the Coachella Valley Animal Campus, located in Thousand Palms.

The Riverside County Department of Animal Services - Coachella Valley Animal Campus has an opportunity for a Volunteer Services Coordinator.
We're looking for someone to take our Volunteer Program to the next level by developing, through community, civic, academic and social organizations throughout the local community, an active volunteer roster.
You'll also use social/local media channels to generate volunteer team and program exposure that will result in a sustained interest at the community level in volunteerism. You'll also be counted on to create promotional pictures/videos that can be easily reposted through social media channels.
We want an enthusiastic and creative Volunteer Services Coordinator, that will roll-up their sleeves and work along side volunteers, as they, conduct dog walking, adoptions, community outreach, homeless pet outreach, vaccination clinics, animal transport to and from facilities, etc. If you're someone with a strong customer service background, compassionate, empathetic and have a desire to work in public service, take a moment to apply.
Competitive candidates will have professional experience with: animal handling, for example, dog groomer, veterinary office and/or hospital, animal shelter, animal sanctuary, animal services business, for example, Petco or PetSmart or a related animal services business.
Bilingual skills to speak, read and write in Spanish are preferred, but not required.
This position will be based at the CVAC: Coachella Valley Animal Campus, located in Thousand Palms, four days a week and one day at the Jurupa Valley facility. The work schedule can be 9/80 Tuesday through Saturday with every other Saturday off or a traditional 5/40. Flexibility will be required to work during holidays, evenings, weekends and special events.
The Volunteer Services Coordinator is the advanced journey level classification and reports to an appropriate supervisory or managerial level position. The Volunteer Services Coordinator is distinguished from the higher-level Volunteer Services Program Manager by the latter’s responsibility for department-wide administration and supervision of volunteer activities. Advancement to the next level is obtained by competitive selection through an open recruitment.
