Job description

The Immigration Unit of Legal Aid Service of Broward County in Plantation, Florida seeks a staff attorney to provide immigration legal services to survivors of crimes. The attorney will handle a variety of immigration cases, concentrating on humanitarian-based immigration benefits like VAWA, U Visa, and asylum. Caseload will include both affirmative applications and removal defense.

Candidate should have a J.D. from an accredited institution, preferably have 1-3 years of relevant experience in immigration law or similar, and have a commitment to providing legal services to the poor. English/Spanish-speaking candidates are strongly preferred. Candidate should be comfortable in timekeeping to report billable hours under the VOCA grant. The ideal candidate is to be a member of the Florida Bar. Position open immediately.

The current entry-level salary is $60,000 per year. The salary for the successful applicant may be significantly higher, based on the applicant’s years of experience.
