General Summary

Under the supervision of the command staff responsible for Jail Administration, maintains the inmate visitation system. Provides a variety of support services to the jail. Receptionist for the entire Sheriff’s Office.

Essential Functions

1. Maintains the jail visitation computer system including the maintenance of the kiosks throughout the facility. Main contact for the visitation system. Scheduling of professional visits for attorneys, clergy, DHS, CPS, etc.
2. Views jail visits for proper visitation rules. Emails public visitors that violate visitation, keeps logs for suspension of visits.
3. Greets the public to give direction to the different departments within the building.
4. Telephone receptionist for the entire Sheriff’s Office.

Other Functions
1. The ability to talk to citizens calmly who may be undergoing stressful situations, i.e., de-escalation techniques.
2. The ability to perform various job duties of the Corrections Clerk’s position in that individual’s absence.
3. The ability to learn the functions of not only the jail, but the courthouse as well to be able to direct telephone calls to the appropriate department.
4. May assist records clerks as directed by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.

Experience:
Previous office experience in a clerical function is preferred. Working knowledge
of Microsoft Word and Excel Spreadsheets.

Other Requirements:
Must be able to work independently and possess time management
skills.
