Position Summary

The Violence Intervention Program Director for the Greater Illinois Reimagine Violence Prevention Services program will oversee the entire staff, provide short-term trauma counseling services, provide supervision to
LSW working words licensure, facilitate monthly staff meetings, and engage the broader community to identify needs. Develop, maintain, and leverage strong relationships with community residents, stakeholders, and law enforcement entities, etc. to identify conflicts that are responsible for recurring violence and to support local violence reduction strategies. This position is responsible for the framework of the program and all aspects of program implementation.

Responsibilities/Performance Requirements:

  • Manage Violence Intervention Program staff; oversee scheduling, performance, and evaluation
  • Oversee and proctor the clinical and social services offered; (i.e. clinical therapy, CBT, clinical assessment, diagnosis, other behavioral health services, and supervision to LSW working words licensure)
  • Orients and trains outreach, participant services and community engagement supervisors according to program and department guidelines to ensure all new employees are ready and able to perform as necessary; oversees program supervisors’ performance and evaluation; delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
  • Coordinate community response actions and meetings in response to shooting incidents and/or when conditions require immediate attention to identify conflicts that are responsible for elevated threats of firearm violence and to support local violence reduction strategies
  • Prepare and submit monthly expenditure documentation and certification forms (EDCFs), and quarterly and final Periodic Financial Reports (PFRs), and Periodic Performance Reports (PPR) along with any additional annual performance data requested to IDHS, as required.
  • Proactively manage changes and provides consistent feedback in project scope, identify potential crisis and work with supervisor to devise contingency plans
  • Collaborate in the management and continuation aspects of this program through the Violence

Prevention Council network, including biennial organizational evaluation and conference procurement.

  • Manage MOAs with partner organizations
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members in a timely and clear manner
  • Organize and facilitate staff meetings, conferences, and other events (i.e., Training, Exercise)
  • Implement training necessary for program continuity in conjunction with IDHS Training Program:

TTAS and other training as necessary

  • Develop, organize, maintain and leverage collaborative partnerships between the Joliet Township and other governmental, non-governmental organizations and community residents
  • Provide education related to Public Health Industry, Public Health Prevention, Mitigation,

Treatment, and Infrastructure

  • Provide communications, progress reports, presentations and strategies related to violence prevention and partnerships with the community and organizations
  • Assist in the development and planning of additional community impact programs related to the work of the Joliet Township Government
  • Provide grant writing expertise for project implementation and sustainability funding for community impact programs
  • Behave with integrity, demonstrates high ethical standards, and displays a positive image of Joliet

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent expressive and receptive communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and competently and adeptness with multitasking
  • Strong sense of responsibility and orientation to detail necessary
  • Computer literacy including keyboarding ability and proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
  • Is open and respectful of cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients and is willing and competent to work with a diverse client population.

Required Qualifications

  • LCSW License (Preferred) Minimum Graduate degree in Psychology, Social work or Public Health or extensive, relevant field work experience utilizing effective, trauma informed interventions with verifiable references.
  • At least three years of management, planning and strategic development experience is required which must include knowledge of evaluation and assessment experience
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to manage confidential patient information and HIPAA compliant, sensitive situations with emotional maturity, professionalism, and integrity.
  • IDHS program implementation experience preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

WORK CONDITIONS: This position may require work on weekends and evenings.

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience between $69,000 - $74,000 annual.
