Role Summary/Purpose:

The VP of Sales Learning and Development will lead efforts to ensure that all client sales professionals have knowledge of consultative selling techniques and can effectively use skills to drive increased client usage of Synchrony solutions. This role will help develop training strategies and conduct ongoing training for all skill levels beginning with onboarding through advanced sales training.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead the analysis, design, development, delivery and evaluation of training curricula and content focused on sales skill building, onboarding, and sales leadership upskilling.
  • Lead a team of trainers focused on delivering “best in class” training events virtually, in person and using blended approaches.
  • Create curricula content and learning journeys for large corporate events such as National Sales Meetings, Regional meetings, etc.
  • Determine ongoing training and coaching needs by observing sales representatives and partnering with the business to understand skill deficiencies.
  • Responsible for the co-creation and execution of the overarching sales training strategy and employee learning journeys.
  • Maintain policy and procedure resources; update training resource materials; prepare classroom materials and schedule and coordinate new hire and ongoing training classes.
  • Collaborate with third-party providers to develop training materials and support documentation that deliver on organizational and training goals and objectives.
  • Identify and drive the development of strategies and approaches for new learning initiatives.
  • Partner with cross functional teams such as marketing, sales and operations to define learning objectives, create content and understand gaps for new training materials.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of company, product and served markets from continued training, education and self-learning.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree ; or in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, a High school diploma / GED and 12 years of equivalent experience in Financial Services.
  • 8+ years of instructional design, program management experience, and experience in development and implementation of learning programs including needs assessment, content development, measurement, and delivery.
  • 3+ years of people management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and influencing across a matrixed organization
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of time

  • Excellent relationship management, communication, and presentation skills and proven ability to work and influence across all functions and levels in a matrix environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering results; detail oriented, capable of handling multiple projects at once, and meeting deadlines.
  • Technically savvy with the ability to quickly adopt and master new tools/technology.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Instructional authoring tools E.G. RISE, Camtasia, Articulate
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems and similar technologies.
  • Experience building and leading strong, diverse teams and deliver results.
  • Critical thinker; innovative problem solver; team player; self-starter.
  • Direct experience using Salesforce.com in a sales role or sales training role
  • Proven project management skills: wing-to-wing project ownership, working with multiple functions and levels of management in a matrix environment
  • Hands-on style self-starter, enthusiastic with excellent time management and organizational skills

The salary range for this position is 130,000.00 - 210,000.00 USD Annual

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
