Compliancy Group is looking for an experienced VP of Finance to join our growing team. We are an industry leading Software as a Service ("SaaS") based organization, providing compliance and security solutions to the healthcare industry.

Responsibilities:

  • The VP of Finance will be responsible for the overall direction and management of all finance and accounting operations, including managing the overall financial strategy set by leadership.
  • Reporting to the President, the Vice President of Finance will have a substantial voice within the company, interacting daily with the executive team, working cross functionally to develop a comprehensive financial management strategy for the Company. The role calls for a self-motivated individual who can thrive in a results and performance-based culture and communicate internally with an exceptional combination of strategic understanding, personality, drive, persistence, and execution.

Accounting:

  • Assess and oversee ongoing core finance/accounting activities, including cash management and treasury, revenue recognition, bank reconciliations, payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable and month end closing.
  • Manage daily cash balances between various bank accounts, and manage banking relationships, including execution and negotiation of new banking agreements.
  • Lead accounting projects, including the creation and maintenance of a system of policies and controls over cash, disbursements and treasury activities. Create flowchart of accounting and finance controls, segregation of duties and levels of approvals.
  • Complete and own necessary State filings and State Annual Reports, tax and compliance filings
  • Complete final closing purchase price certificates and other post-closing reconciliation requirements under purchase agreement, as required. Record purchase accounting entries and establish an opening

Balance Sheet.

  • Manage all activities relating to external auditors, tax providers and statutory agencies for the audits, inquiries and tax compliance. Complete company annual audits with a designated Accounting firm.
  • Identify and review external tax accounting firms to ensure the Company's tax return is completed accurately and timely
  • Review Insurance coverages and assess coverage gaps, if any. Work with insurance brokers to add or update insurance policies as necessary
  • Manage Stock Option Plan, ledger of grants, stock-based compensation expense calculations and valuations

FP&A:

  • Weekly dashboard report template and reporting process on key business and financial metrics and

KPIs

  • Analytics: own reporting and explanation of underlying drivers of monthly business performance; create monthly operating metrics and dashboard
  • Build, lead and manage the annual budget planning process
  • Quantify risks and opportunities in achieving forecasts and explain variances to forecasts. Create ad hoc analysis/sensitivities to understand potential outcomes
  • Assist President with evaluation of business/product expansion opportunities, model ROI and financial business plans
  • Lead drafting of quarterly Board reports and ad hoc analyses for Board with assistance from Mgmt team
  • Analyze and assess current operating costs and vendors to identify potential cost savings opportunities
  • Creation of customer contracting policies, procedures and tracking

Projects:

  • Complete conversion from Cash to GAAP reporting, codify bookkeeping and revenue recognition processes to make them "bulletproof," GAAP compliant, and frictionless
  • Design and execute processes to support key month-end deliverables, including a full set of financial statements, budgets vs actuals. Create a monthly financial package template.
  • Create centralized document repository for key legal documents, financials and company reports
  • Assess current accounting system, implement new accounting system conversion, if necessary
  • Assess current order to cash, invoicing and revenue recognition systems, make recommendations to President on go forward process and systems; lead implementation of plan
  • Sales and Use Tax analysis and VDA with support of accounting firm
  • Support Management and Board with analysis of potential bolt-on acquisition opportunities, as necessary

Requirements:

Must Have's

  • 5+ years of experience leading the financial function with a growing SaaS business
  • Hands-on "in the trenches" management style and ability to roll their sleeves and work effectively toward completing deliverables on a timely basis with limited supporting resources
  • Robust accounting experience with knowledge of relevant GAAP rules & standards, having managed engagements with auditors, paired with strong FP&A involvement
  • Deep understanding of relevant SaaS metrics and KPIs to support management team and Board with executive dashboard of indicators that monitor state of the business
  • Relevant experience of working with sales, marketing and customer support functions to provide relevant RevOps and Customer Success analytics to drive improved effectiveness & efficiency
  • Previous experience leading a business through significant growth
  • Capable of building a finance organization that can support the requirements of a private equity sponsored business and the demands of this environment
  • An entrepreneurial style and a strong sense of ownership, they will have the ability to integrate into and establish credibility with the management team
  • High integrity, respect and honesty - true team player

Like to Have's

  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Geographically based in the Northeast US
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics
