Key Duties

  • Interpreting and diagnosing radiographic images, including X-rays, CT scans, and MRI scans.
  • Performing a variety of imaging procedures, such as X-rays, CT scans, and MRI scans, and ensuring the safety and comfort of the patient during the procedure.
  • Communicating findings and recommendations with other veterinary professionals, including veterinarians, technicians, and pet owners.
  • Staying current with advances in veterinary radiology, including new imaging techniques and technologies.
  • Maintaining accurate and complete patient records, including radiographic images and reports.
  • Collaborating with other veterinary specialists, as needed, to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Participating in continuing education and professional development activities to maintain and enhance clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including radiation safety regulations.
  • Providing guidance and training to veterinary students and other professionals, as needed.
  • Maintaining a high level of professional ethics and standards, and demonstrating a commitment to the welfare of animals.

Key Skills, Qualifications & Client Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school.
  • Excellent diagnostic and interpretive skills for radiographic images, including X-rays, CT scans, and MRI scans.
  • Board certification or eligibility for certification in veterinary radiology from the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) or the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI).
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary anatomy, physiology, and radiology.
  • Current veterinary license in good standing in the state where the individual will be practicing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on providing high-quality patient care.
  • Experience working with veterinary patients and a strong understanding of veterinary medicine.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to other veterinary professionals and pet owners.
  • Completion of a recognized veterinary radiology residency program, or equivalent post-graduate training in veterinary radiology.
