Job Title: Underwriter

Job Summary:
Assist our Benefits Advisors who are licensed by the State of Michigan in preparing plan analysis to seek new clients and to retain existing clients.
Responsibilities:
  • Requesting and obtaining quotes for existing business and prospective clients
  • Use of spreadsheets to show benefit options for comparison and financial comparisons
  • Requesting, running, and comprehending utilization reporting for group renewals and maintenance
  • Establishing illustrative rating by use of utilization reporting
  • Prepare executive level summaries and proposals
  • Maintaining a full knowledge of carrier plans including benefits, rating differences, network limitations and eligibility requirements
  • Utilize market expertise and analytical skills to provide guidance and strategic direction to Producer/Account Executive Benchmarking plans by industry and employer size with national, regional, and state plans
  • Assist in preparation of plan impact due to national and state legislative activity
  • Use agency management systems proficiently to document communications and tasks performed

Requirements:
  • Michigan Life & Health Insurance licensed, or commitment to obtain within 12 months
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Exceptional math skills
  • Strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, responsive and self-motivated
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to produce accurate work
  • Ability to learn new software programs
  • Team Player and task orientated
  • Pleasant and positive attitude
Education/Experience:
  • College degree or 2 years of experience in Employee Benefit Insurance
