OBJECTIVE (broad function, scope and purpose for the position)
The technician will operate and maintain the ultrasonic baths and pre-wash equipment used in cleaning various heat exchanger components. The technician will monitor and maintain related water treatment equipment.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
- Prepare tanks and pre-cleaning equipment to receive production batches and determine cleaning method based on metal type and condition
- Practice good safety knowledge and behaviors related to chemical handling
- Perform production floor support activities such as transacting finished materials, changing filters, and material movement
- Execute quality checks and inspections throughout the entire process
- Troubleshoot simple equipment issues
- Be familiar with operating equipment such as pumps, filters, pneumatics, etc …
- Collect and analyze chemical cleaning samples per schedule in a basic lab setting
- Titrate and adjust chemical cleaning baths on a routine basis
- Document and store chemical bath maintenance, usage, and waste records
- Support assembly mechanics as needed for build activities
- Keeps work area and surrounding equipment clean and organized. Performs housekeeping as required at the facility to maintain a professional presentation.
- Continuously build job knowledge through execution of Standard Operating Procedures, and ALSOC
- Develop the department in accordance with the Alfa Laval Production System by actively participating in performance and improvement meetings.
ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENTS
Reports to Service Center Manager or Supervisor. Must work independently to operate and maintain equipment and ultrasonic bath solutions. Must work unsupervised performing job responsibilities as trained and instructed. Cooperate with Team Leader (or designee) and work effectively in a strong team environment; continually seeking ways to improve cleaning processes and techniques. Must be able to interact in a professional manner with administrative staff and co-workers.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION DESIRED
Education (degree or years) and/or Certification/Registration:
- High school/GED
Type and Length of Experience:
- +3 years’ experience in workshop/manufacturing environment
- Experience in monitoring chemical cleaning solution by sampling and titration measurement highly desired
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes Desired in Candidate:
- Knowledge in basic wastewater handling
- Experience operating forklift trucks (preferred but not required), hand pallet jacks, conveyors, and overhead cranes
- Demonstrated ability understanding Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (PID), blueprints, drawings, sketches, and work instructions
- Demonstrated good punctuality and work ethic
- Demonstrated good mechanical aptitude with ability to diagnose mechanical problems
- Basic computer knowledge, MS Office Suite, and experience in operating equipment with PLC displays (PLC coding experience not required)
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
- Must be able to lift and carry 60 lbs. as required.
- Must wear company supplied uniforms and maintain professional business presentation
- Typical shop environment and machinery – concrete floors. See site specific SDS information
Environmental Factors (hazardous materials, work location, work surfaces, exposure):
- This job may require the periodic use of a respirator.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS (i.e., travel, motor vehicle use, etc.)
Travel may be requested for field service work (not a requirement) and for training of related chemistry, chemical cleaning processes and equipment
