Role Summary
Design, develop, and improve new and existing automotive soft trim products. Generally, completes the following duties and responsibilities with the support of senior engineering personnel and/or engineering management.
Key Responsibilities
- Co-develop 2D flat patterns and soft trim cover designs with the Trim Development team.
- Release Pattern Data, Bill of Materials and Drawings in Engineering release system.
- Identify Root Cause & Corrective Actions to address issues.
- Industrialize trim cover production with the Sew and JIT Seat Complete plants.
- Interface with OEM customer and Suppliers.
- Applicants must understand the pattern making process to develop automotive soft trim cover assemblies both
- Applicants must have knowledge of industrial cutting and sewing processes. Preferably with the ability to sew on
- Applicants must have a knowledge of automotive seat complete design and seat assembly process.
- Applicants should have an understanding of foam pad design and how to develop the foam pad and trim covers to
- Applicants should have a basic understanding of automotive textiles (Cloth, Leather, Vinyl, etc)
- Maintain Good Housekeeping of the area.
- Ensure adherence to company, departmental and health and safety systems and policies to meet legislative
- Supports Internal / External Audit efforts regarding ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949 Certification for remote site
- Supports the requirements as detailed in Standard Operating Procedure 8000 (Quality Management System).
- Ensure employees work in the manner consistent with the organizations established objectives
state and federal regulations. Establish clear goals for workplace health and safety. Complete
safety talks, safety meetings, and required training occur, as defined.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
Experience/Special Knowledge/Skills
- Experience working with manufacturing team, suppliers and OEM customer
- 3+ Years of diversified Engineering experience in automotive soft trim preferred
- Evidence of the ability to manage components, systems, and projects through program lifecycle with evidence of
- Evidence of the ability to make good decisions in a timely manner.
- Must be able to read, create, and comprehend engineering drawings and specifications. Basic competency in
- Strong communication skills: able to communicate (written and verbal) clearly and succinctly in a variety of
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully complete multiple tasks within established and
- Evidence of successful performance with independent problem solving and presentations.
- Proficient knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and database applications.
