TalkingSpace Plus Oxfordshire are recruiting Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) to join our exciting, innovative, and successful service from March 2023. TalkingSpace Plus is the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service in Oxfordshire which provides evidence-based psychological therapies over the telephone, online or face to face.

We offer excellent supervision and CPD and training to support career progression. We actively encourage innovation and research with opportunities for collaborations with Oxford Academic Health Science Network, University of Oxford Department of Psychiatry and Department of Experimental Psychology. The Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner apprenticeship is a 12-15 month course, delivered by Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust Apprenticeship scheme & The Learning & Development Centre. The programme combines both academic and work-based learning through close collaboration between employers and education providers.

Interview dates: Week commencing 9th January - Thursday 12th and Friday 13th

Online Event: 8th December 5.30pm & 10th December 10.30am

To train as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner you will commit to the academic requirements of the apprenticeship whilst an employee of Oxford Health Foundation Trust. During the apprenticeship, one day per week is protected learning time and will be used for classroom /online learning, research work, shadowing your peers, project work, or directed study. The remaining four days per week will be on-the-job training with TalkingSpace Plus where you are required to be based in the service.

On successful completion of the programme, you will be equipped with the knowledge, understanding and skills relevant to a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner within an IAPT service.

High quality regular supervision and training is provided and you will be part of a warm and friendly team of therapists serving local people in Oxfordshire.

The main duties of this role include:
  • Successfully completing the apprenticeship
  • Carry out telephone screening assessments
  • Identify risk to self and others and agree an individual risk management plan.
  • Identify any safeguarding concerns and agree a plan to address these.
  • Refer people into our in-house employment support service.
  • Co-facilitate courses
TalkingSpace Plus is a Team of over 200 staff. Although a large Team, staff feel part of a close knit and supportive service who pride themselves on supporting patients with mild to moderate depression and anxiety across Oxfordshire.
