Tractor Trailer Mechanic

Since 1985 Transport Designs, Inc. has been specializing in transporting general commodities from the Upper Midwest to the West Coast, Southeast and the state of Texas. We have established ourselves as a leader in customer service and professionalism. We are seeking Dry Van Trailer Mechanics for our Savage, MN truck shop.

The Dry Van Trailer Mechanics are responsible for performing preventative maintenance and general repairs on tractor and trailer units to Company and DOT standards. Complete all needed repairs keeping quality, safety, and expediency at the forefront. The Mechanics are relied on daily to keep our fleet of trucks and trailers in top condition.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• MN DOT regulation Complaint standards
• Diagnose and repair heavy-duty Dry Van trailers, including preventative maintenance, with safety as the top priority.
• Identify, diagnose, and repair trailer components such as doors, floors, side panels, suspension components, wheel ends, air brakes, and general mechanical knowledge.
• Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on trailer equipment including routine technical repairs and completing repair orders.
• Use effective interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships with team members, all Transport Designs personnel, and external vendors.

Qualifications

• Previous fleet experience preferred
• One year of related mechanic experience
• Willing to train entry level technician
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Welding experience is a plus
• Strong work ethic
• Requires the ability to work under pressure while maintaining composure and sound judgment
