Organization: Boys & Girls Club of Portage County (non-profit, youth service)Hours: Part-Time, Hourly (varies from 12-25 hours per week)
Location: Teen Center- 941 Michigan Ave, Stevens Point WI, 54481
Reports to: Director of Teen Services Position Summary: Teen Coordinators are responsible for direct service to teen Club members, which includes facilitating and development of program plans, club management, behavior management and facilities management. Teen Mentors work closely with volunteers, director and other organizational initiatives that support the mission of the Boys & Girls Club.

Qualifications:*

  • Ability to be trained in First Aid/CPR
  • Prior experience working with teens/youth is preferred but not required
  • Communicate effectively with teens/youth and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Courteous and professional to all staff, club members, and families.
  • Motivate teens and manage behavior problems
  • Work with the general public
  • Organize and supervise club members in a safe environment
  • Must be able to pass a reference check and background check

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Standing or walking for up to 8 hours a day
  • Pushing or lifting of up to 50lbs
  • Can handle high noise levels for extensive periods of time.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan & lead daily, weekly, and special event activities
  • Promote, motivate, and stimulate program participation
  • Assists with and recruits prospective teen Club members
  • Ensure that all programs and activities occur daily as scheduled
  • Ensure an appropriate number of teens participate in each program
  • Ensure all programs are safe & meaningful
  • Ensure discipline policies are enforced during each program
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to Club members
  • Monitor and supervise the safety and behavior of Club members
  • Track participation numbers for each activity
  • Assist in collecting outcome data when requested
  • Assist in program participation/time tracking
  • Encourage fellow staff to meet program goals, objectives, and outcomes
  • Form meaningful, safe, and positive relationships with all youth and Families of diverse backgrounds (when able)
  • Participate in staff performance evaluations, staff meetings, and trainings
  • Participate in special programs and/or events
  • Attend field trips
  • Complete assignments, tasks or duties given by Director or Assistant Director
  • May need to sit in on meetings with parents
  • Follow and assist with the daily & weekly cleaning schedule
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and properly equipped program area
  • Ensure that the overall Club environment is safe and inviting for all Club Members
  • Encourage club members to assist in cleaning the Club
