The Role

As Technical Services Manager, your role is to support the regional growth of our business by providing hands-on and remote support to Pulp and Paper customers in the region, in close collaboration with the local P&P team as part of a global team of experts. You will participate in developing and maintaining strong relationships to our customers as well as planning, running mill trials and identifying business opportunities. Functionally you will report to the Global Technical Services Director while administratively you will report to the Regional Director NAM.

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing hands-on and remote technical support to key accounts with initial focus on the southeast and east coast of North America
  • Leading coordination, planning, execution, and follow up of mill trials including reporting and documentation
  • Working closely with local account manager and technical service managers to develop and maintain relationships with key decision makers in pulp and paper mills
  • Participating in identifying customer needs, supporting the development of solutions as well as providing technical assessments of opportunities
  • Identifying and assessing market potential and business opportunities in the region, together with the Sales team
  • Respecting local environmental requirements, safety practices, equipment and quality issues relevant to the business and in close coordination with mills, to enable safe trialling of enzymes
  • As part of the global application team, contributing to innovation processes with technical application knowledge

About You

  • 10+ year’s work experience in pulp and paper industry with strong technical background
  • Preferably degree in paper science and engineering course or comparable
  • Experience in application of enzymes is a clear asset, but not essential
  • Solid understanding of technical and commercial industry needs including main financial drivers
  • Ability to network within the industry and manage stakeholders at multiple levels
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively translate between technology and customer needs
  • Willingness and ability to travel (including international) 50-80%
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English are essential, Spanish language skills are a benefit
  • Structured and results-oriented person taking a proactive approach with a sense of urgency in driving projects to completion while dealing with multiple priorities
