Shift 2nd pay scale: 18.00 – 22.00 per hour.

JOB SUMMARY:

Oversees and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operating a variety of machines to manufacture products. Responsibilities include training employees; assigning and directing work; ensuring company and safety policies and procedures are being followed. Assists production supervisor in meeting the goals and objectives of the department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Process checks – Initials CCP’s.


Provides support and relief to first and second shift machine operators and supervisors.


Coordinates shifts change to ensure correct quantities of product available are run out on time.

Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.

Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards.


Ensure ingredients are available to provide coordination with inventory and usage to determine yields.


Monitor ingredient storage area to ensure sanitation food safety.


Communicate and support Purchasing Assistant to ensure adequate supplies are available to meet the production schedule.


Monitor products and raw materials to ensure contents are stored and rotated properly.


Monitor expiration dates and lot #’s of raw materials.


Ensure adequate cleanup is performed prior to end of shift.


Participates in raw material’s inventories as required.


Observes and enforces safe work practices and procedures. Reports any unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor.

Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.

Knowledge of manufacturing methods and practices for the goods being made.

Assist the Production Supervisor (and act for them in their absence) to manage an assigned group of employees. Specific duties may include the evaluation of personnel regarding work performance, safety and GMP practices.

In the absence of the Production Supervisor, participate in the weekly Staff Meeting communicating issues regarding the production department.

Ensure safety, training and quality standards are met within the facility.

Maintain regular, dependable, and reliable attendance.

Comply with all company policies.

Complete all other assigned duties as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college or degree preferred. Minimum of 2 years of experience in production in a food production environment. Previous experience in front line supervision or similar position preferred.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 to 100 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and dust. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
