Job purpose
The BorgWarner Arden campus offers two world class technical centers and a cutting-edge manufacturing facility that designs and produces turbos, fan, and fan drive components for the automotive industry. The Arden campus offers a multitude of career opportunities and is in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.
This position will perform all administrative duties associated with Receiving, transportation, and customs compliance as defined by the essential duties.
Key responsibilities
  • Responsible for managing inbound freight for all production and non-production parts.
  • Responsibilities include coordination with Purchasing, Logistics, Engineering, and Manufacturing of inbound/outbound material.
  • Provides input to Logistics team in determining new carriers, methods of transport, and suitable routes based on cost and delivery goals.
  • Ensures compliance of all legal regulations with respect to transportation of material including import/export compliance, NAFTA, and CAFTA.
  • Enters required data for supplier Advanced Shipping Notifications (ASN’s), collects daily shipping data for customer delivery performance and processes all production receipts.
  • Selects, prints and assist with distributing transfer orders for production requirements to be pulled, packaged, and staged for shipment and external production orders.
  • Prepares packing slips and bills of lading for all shipments, production and non-production from and to offsite warehouses.
  • Prepares documentation for export shipments including shippers export declarations, NAFTA certificates of origin, and commercial invoices.
  • Retains all shipments and receipts documents for seven years.
  • Comply and promote all facility policies, procedures, and standards, including safety, quality, and basic operating procedures.
  • Is responsible for ensuring team training and work instructions are current. Performs the training with new employees and ensures it is documented.
  • Is responsible for warehouse teams daily work delegation to ensure all areas have support.
  • Is responsible for problem solving and involvement/communications with others to ensure objectives are met.
  • Assist with the implementation of safety, quality, and process improvements in the department.
  • Provide input to supervisor on current manufacturing process and materials to suggest improvements and cost savings solutions.
  • Assist the maintenance team when required to perform or coordinate the preventive maintenance or on department equipment.
  • Assist in the training of new employees/operators on basic processes and department procedures.
  • Understand and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Communicate and enforce safe work procedures.
  • Identify and close safety issues (suggestions, inspection and investigation findings) and their corrective actions.
  • Understand and adhere to current quality and control policies.
  • Attendance on the job is essential.
  • Act as a leader for the rest of hourly workforce in the department to effectively communicate changes, improvement ideas.
  • Ensures that all production lines have material staged for them in order to prevent downtime.
  • When needed, receives incoming product in SAP and stores it in location.
  • Operates and troubleshoots issues at the stacker as needed.
  • Uses multiple types of forklifts to pull material needed to support production (assembly/machining).
  • Coordinates the operations of receiving warehouse employees to achieve company objectives.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
What we’re looking for
  • This position requires a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong Computer skills (Word, Excel) is required.
  • An associate degree in logistics or equivalent experience is strongly preferred.
  • In depth knowledge of SAP and all related SAP functions is required.
  • This position requires at least 5 years of warehouse experience in a leadership type role.
  • Must have the ability to become a powered industrial truck trainer.
  • Experience operating the stacker is strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to follow instructions, safety rules and regulations.
  • Attendance on the job is essential.
