WHAT YOU WILL DO

As a part of the division’s Coastal and East Texas Region team, our Administrative Assistant V will play a key role in achieving TCEQ’s mission. You would use your skills and experience to:

  • Develop and maintain databases and produce spreadsheets dissemination and tracking of program information; draft, edit and/or prepare reports, letters, and other correspondence; process and/or prepare investigation reports, documents, and records.
  • Interpret administrative rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in assigned areas and communicate information to agency staff, management, and the public.
  • Assist in planning and facilitating office activities and support services such as travel, procurements, telecommunications, etc., and coordinating administrative assignments/tasks with other staff in the region.
  • Compile information, review data, and develop responses to information requests from staff, public, and private entities; assist by answering telephones and distributing calls and messages; and schedule and attend meetings.
  • Implement, develop, review, and/or revise administrative Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to assure work product quality and solve administrative problems.
  • Develop and maintain recordkeeping and filing systems.
  • Train other technical and administrative staff engaged in the execution of program functions.

TELEWORK

This position requires full-time in office attendance.

Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or its equivalent plus five years of fulltime experience providing administrative support in an office setting.

Fifteen semester hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for each six months of the required experience with a maximum substitution of four years.


OR


  • Two years as an Administrative Assistant IV at TCEQ.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience providing customer service in an office setting by greeting or assisting customers and/or answering, screening, or routing telephone calls.
  • Experience preparing and/or proofreading correspondence, forms, brochures, manuals, and/or charts.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES

This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Administrative Assistant V state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Administrative Assistant V series.
