THE POSITION

The Department of Labor & Industry is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform trainee level technical work in determining employee/employer tax liability under Pennsylvania Unemployment Compensation Law and in the maintenance of employer unemployment tax accounts.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Employer Services team, of the Office of UC Tax Services (OUCTS)-responds to Employer Phone Inquiries, UC-News, Emails and Online inquiries.

A trainee in this position will learn to communicate effectively both orally through telephone contact and in written correspondence. Employees will acquire a thorough working knowledge of all applicable aspects of the PA UC Law, Regulations, and all Bureau policies and procedures. By the end of the rating period, the employee must be able to review, interpret and apply various reference materials and resources.

Upon successful completion of the trainee program, Unemployment Compensation Tax Technician Trainees are promoted to an Unemployment Compensation Tax Technician.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: This position is headquartered in the Labor & Industry Building in Harrisburg. This position also currently provides the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, for eligible employees.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of bookkeeping experience in the maintenance of fiscal or financial records and graduation from high school; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
