GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for all aspects of employment to include but not limited to the following: Recruiting, sourcing, screening and assisting in the selection and processing of candidates who are veterans for the Armed Forces of the United States, members of the National Guard or Reserve, and military spouses for assigned departments. Coordinate all veteran related activities internally and externally, while acting as the primary liaison for all veteran contacts. Ensure all relevant policies and related practices are followed in a timely, fair, non-discriminatory manner and are conducted consistent with Beaumont Human Resource customer service standards and appropriate age and cultural considerations. This position reports to the Director, Human Resources

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Access internal/external applications for evaluation and translation/relevance of military skills and education to assigned departments. Maintain proper hiring practices according to policies, procedures, and other regulatory agencies to include but not limited to: EEOC/MDCR. Joint Commission, OFCCP.
  • Source, interview and process qualified candidates who are veterans of the Armed Forces of the United states, current or former members of the National Guard and Reserve, and military spouses within appropriate time frames and complete necessary documents (discharge documentation, Joint Services Transcript). Source candidates utilizing all diversity resources as well as other industry specific sourcing options. Develop relationships with military transition points on active component installations. Develop and foster an employment talent pipeline between Beaumont and National Guard/Reserve units and commands. Develop relationships with state and local Veterans Service Organizations.
  • Provide candidates with an exceptional experience through effective communication, process and follow up. Must be able to effectively manage candidate pools while utilizing recruitment tools and interview techniques to make quality hiring selections.
  • Serve as resource and counsel for department, employees and applicants on a variety of issues, including but not limited to: Military Skills translation, military cultural competence, veteran transition issues, Guard and Reserve Friendly HR policies, Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), Work Opportunity Tax Credit, employment related policies and procedures, career counseling, system practices, 525 process, job postings and veteran talent attraction strategies.
  • Coordinates, designs and prepares advertising media for open positions. Coordinates with approved vendors related to advertising, recruitment sourcing, applicant tracking system, employment assessment tool, etc.
  • Provide support to Hospital Orientation, local school activities, veteran-specific onboarding procedures, Veteran Service Organization activities, veteran-centered philanthropic activities, veteran-oriented hiring events, National Guard and Reserve events such as Boss Lifts and Ice Breaker cruises. Serve as liaison between Beaumont and the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, the Veterans Administration, and DOD Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
  • Coordinate, organize and/or participate in hospital/system wide veteran, Guard/Reserve, military spouse recognition events to include but not limited to Veterans Day, Memorial Day, and Independence Day events, Employee Appreciation Day, Beaumont Recognition Dinner, etc.
  • Oversee the daily activities of their Employment Assistant, counsel, provide input to the yearly evaluation and support other members of the team as appropriate

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Baccalaureate degree or equivalent military experience/education including graduation from branch specific Advance Non-Commissioned Officers Academy or Officer Advanced Course.
  • Must have worked in a civilian or military Human Resources department or completed formal military recruiting training.

Other Qualifications:

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to all customers of various ages, cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of US Armed Forces cultural competencies including rank structure, branch-specific values and missions, military skills translation, military personnel records, and common veteran transition issues. Requires tact and diplomacy in working with department managers and leaders.
  • The ability to problem solve and work independently as well as within a team.
  • Ability to prioritize, efficiently manage time and work effectively under stressful situations and timeframes.
