Responsibilities:

  • Performs the development, maintenance, performance monitoring and tuning, vendor contact, upgrade, security monitoring and ongoing support for cloud-based MIDAS systems
  • Manages the environment and provides subject matter expertise for an enterprise class system (ESX, AWS Cloud, Storage, Active Directory, SQL Administration)
  • Monitors, installs, upgrades, patches and resolves advanced hardware and OS issues on Cloud-native Clusters
  • Develops and administers policies and procedures relating to security including procedures by which access is authorized, enabled, changed, and withdrawn
  • Monitors response time, performs validation checks and uses other methods to monitor, analyze and tune system performance. Ensures that architecture will support planned growth and change
  • Provides technical support and guidance for Architects, database administrators, DevOps Engineers in support of all aspects of System architecture, tools, and configuration
  • Develops, documents, and implements flexible, non-restrictive change management standards, policies, and procedures for all changes to the any or all AWS Systems Monitors and enforces usage of these standards
  • Performs analysis, feasibility studies and vendor comparisons leading to the acquisition and implementation of related products including monitoring tools, utilities, query tools, connectivity solutions and add-on products
  • Manages the infrastructure resources with Databricks on AWS, SAS Viya on AWS Workspaces. Support the SAS Viya – Onboarding User, User support, SAS space, and Redshift workspace setup
  • Provides inputs on resource & performance monitoring on AWS, works closely with CCIIO to ensure cost containment
  • Support requirements to maintain the system authorization to operate, including updating security, application, and user documentation, as well as supporting CCIIO fully on Adaptive Capability Testing (ACT) and all audits
  • Develop, implement, and maintain identification, identity management, and authentication and authorization systems (Enterprise Identity Management (EIDM) / Enterprise User Administration (EUA) integration, AWS identity management services, CMS Acceptable Risk Safeguards 5.0 standards and controls, Identity and Access Management (IDM) and the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) services
  • Support user access for data distribution methods including internet file downloading, Snowball hard drives, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), API / Data as a Service (DaaS), and other forms of data dissemination
  • Provide support to users accessing MIDAS. Maintain a user library that includes access levels and roles
  • Provide support on CMS mandated Audit processes
  • Manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Maintain thorough and well-written documentation
  • Participate in live event support, root cause analysis and troubleshooting and on-call rotation
  • May provide oversight and direction to junior team members
  • Effectively communicate ideas and data verbally and in writing
  • Provide input to highly complex decisions that impact future enhancements
  • Seek input from multiple constituents and stakeholders to drive innovative solutions
  • Incorporate feedback and ensure decisions are implemented swiftly to yield high quality execution
  • Effectively negotiate and resolve conflicts in a constructive manner
  • Build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders

  • Support and mentor engineers, empowering them to make effective decisions

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience working in Systems Administrator role
  • 3 years of experience with AWS and Databricks strongly preferred
  • Requires knowledge of TCP/IP, networking hardware and software, diagnosis, configuration and cloud-based installations. Experience with configuration management tools
  • Experience with developing solutions on cloud computing services and infrastructure in the data and analytics space
  • Prior experience with administering SAS Viya in AWS Workspaces
  • Highly detailed focused. Excellent organization skills

  • Bachelor Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration or Health Information Management or approved equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Certification in one or more of the following technologies preferred: Cloud, mobile, Database, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Big Data, BI, Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence
