About The Position

The Systems Engineer will provide network and system administration including, but not limited to, design, installation, deployment, and administration of equipment/software, training, and other technical requirements in support of the site.

The Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC) is a Command under the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command (USAMRDC), located at Fort Detrick, Maryland. TATRC conducts and supports research through its four key divisions which include: Computational Biology, Digital Health, Medical Modeling & Simulation, and Medical Robotics and Autonomous Systems. Through the Advanced Medical Technology Initiative, TATRC sponsors clinicians across the military health systems to test new technologies and ideas in clinically relevant process improvement projects, during operational simulations, or with animal models. TATRC fosters research to address gaps in DoD medical programs and military healthcare. With an extensive network of partners, TATRC expertise is focused on the entire research spectrum, from early stage innovative research to technology demonstrations and implementation to benefit the Warfighter. TATRC Labs actively collaborate with commercial entities and academic institutions to address the requirements of our medical research programs through special funding and partnership opportunities. DHIC is co-located with the Department of Clinical Investigation at Fort Gordon, GA. The staff of TATRC-DHIC is comprised of personnel from a diverse background and includes expertise in Mobile Health, Telemedicine, Research, Program Management, Case Management, Clinical Information Systems, Operational Medicine, Network Design, Programming, and Information Assurance. TATRC-DHIC has established partnerships with DHA, OTSG, MEDCOM, Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center (DDEAMC), the Regional Training Site Medical, the Cyber Center of Excellence Experimentation Division, Augusta University, and Augusta Technical College.

This position will be required to work on-site at Fort Gordon, GA.

Salary Range

$80,600 - $89,000. Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate’s related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily IT operations to ensure continuity of operations
  • Monitor servers and software applications, to insure optimal performance. Schedule and oversee all daily, weekly and monthly back-ups of the network infrastructure
  • Oversee and provide support for any issues with data backup transfers, either to physical offsite storage and Continuity of Operations (COOP) storage
  • Assist and support staff on IT matters, including, installation of equipment/software, training, and other technical requirements in support of mission requirements for research systems not under the purview of normal Network Enterprise Center (NEC)
  • Provide reports on applications, systems, and server performance. Maintain IT hardware in accordance with applicable regulatory and legal guidelines
  • Monitor servers and software applications, to insure optimal performance and continuity of operations
  • Apply patches as required to software packages while ensuring the patches and upgrades do not degrade performance
  • Install hardware upgrades to servers, computers, APC systems (Redundant Power)
  • Deploy software revisions and new features as required
  • Develop and maintain web and batch applications
  • Coordinate all activities with the Information Assurance Officer
  • Create and update an architecture map to reflect current network state
  • Support ongoing Risk Management Framework requirements, and support Configuration and Change Control processes
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A solid working knowledge of Dell Power Edge, Cisco Switches, Dell Equal Logic Servers, Dell Equal Logic PS621, and Aruba 7010 Series Controller, other functions as reasonable associated may be required highly desired
  • Ability to provide System Administration and Integration functions for the following software Windows Server 2016/2019 software, Apache Web Server software, ISS Web Server software, MS SQL Server software, My SQL server software , VEAMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi) software, VMware vCenter Server, VEEM, and other functions as reasonable associated may be required
  • Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level-I (Security +, CASP, or CISSP,) and Computer Environment (CE) Certifications such as (Vmware certifications, Microsoft Server certifications, is required
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience required
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in information technology preferred
  • Existing Secret Clearance with Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) or Top Secret Security Clearance required. Due to this requirement, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • A solid working knowledge of Windows Server Software, VMware, vSphere, MS SQL, MySQL highly desired
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A solid working knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Office Business Suite) required to produce document, correspondence, briefings and spreadsheets
  • Ability to perform essential duties and responsibilities
