SUMMARY


Under the supervision of the Training Director, the Training Manager will aid in facilitating the training of new hires and continuing the development of current swim instructor staff across different locations. In addition, the Training Manager will evaluate and provide support to swim instructor staff to maintain a high level of customer service across the program. And finally, assist the Training Director in the development and innovation of curriculum and techniques.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate the training of new hires by running 2-week training program as outlined by training director
  • Coordinate with training and program directors in scheduling new hire trainings
  • Carry out classroom sessions to introduce trainees to core curriculum techniques and holds
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the Premier Swim Academy curriculum
  • Assist in operation of the online learning management system (Talent LMS)
  • Develop, test, and implement new teaching techniques and methods
  • Evaluate and provide direct feedback to swim instructor staff
  • Assist in continued training of current swim instructor staff, including in-service trainings, on-deck observations, and in-water mentoring
  • Assist in providing overall quality assurance and consistency across different programs and locations
  • Work with program directors in meeting the current needs of the program (i.e. subbing, advancement evaluations, instructor development)
  • Assist in communicating and giving context regarding curriculum to program participants
  • Assist in maintaining the consistent advancement of students through the curriculum
  • Maintain a well-documented calendar to facilitate coordination with program and training directors
  • Assist the Training Director in writing, filming, and developing new training courses and presentations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Extensive experience in Learn to Swim or Aquatics programs
  • Experience in training and development in the recreation industry
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing
  • Willingness to work odd hours, work at various facilities, and travel out of state
  • Ability to clearly communicate the Premier curriculum to new hires, regardless of previous aquatics experience
  • Ability to develop and maintain a warm and welcoming environment to new staff to make them feel welcome to the team
  • Ability to provide clear, positive, and constructive feedback to current swim instructor staff
  • Receptive to feedback from training director, program directors, facility managers and swim instructor staff
  • Willingness to adapt to changes in work environment, ability to function well in a high-paced environment and be comfortable with ambiguity
  • Ability to have difficult but needed conversations with trainees when performance is lacking
  • Eagerness and initiative to self-conduct workload without constant reminders and supervision
  • Ability and willingness to work at multiple locations and facilities

  • Frequently required to sit, talk, hear, stand, walk, stoop and crouch
  • Required to swim, teach an average of 15 hours per week, and demonstrate teaching skills
  • Ability to lift and/or move equipment or a small or average size child up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus
