Description: The Surgery Manager coordinates general outpatient surgery and endoscopy to provide optimum patient care. This position establishes policies and procedures for the provision of services and coordinates with other departments to provide maximum service to patients and hospital staff. The Surgery Manager will provide direct patient care according to the physicians’ orders and in accordance with recognized nursing techniques, policies, procedures and standards.

  • Responsible for scheduling and coordinating endoscopy and general surgery patients and procedures.
  • Provides direct patient care, assisting the provider as needed.
  • Provides patient education before and after procedures.
  • Provides direction and supervision of endoscopy surgery staff and ensures adequate staffing for surgery needs.
  • Obtains and maintains equipment for endoscopy, general surgery and orthopedic surgery with the approval of the Director according to department policy, procedures and standards and in accordance with the AORN and ANSI/AAMI standards.
  • Coordinates and maintains quality assurance and quality control activities for surgery department.
  • Coordinates and provides training opportunities for new/on coming staff.
  • Fiscally manages time and resources efficiently and within set budget.

Requirements: Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Visual and auditory ability to assess patient conditions in order to provide effective care using standards of practice.

Ability to effectively communicate clearly & concisely; and problem solve effectively with patients, staff, physicians and families.

Ability to complete forms/records accurately and completely.

Past experience in specialty fields beneficial.
