We are seeking an experienced Medical Director to join our inpatient team (80-beds) in Umatilla, FL!
$20K Sign-on Bonus

Responsibilities:
The Medical Director is responsible to provide 24-hour management of the Nursing/Health Services and Medical and Psychiatric Services of the facility. He/she is responsible for providing effective leadership to staff, has knowledge of the organization and function of the Company and directs all therapeutic activities within the facility in accordance with standards of State and Federal regulations; and other indicated regulatory and accrediting organizations and agencies

Core Job Duties:
  • Adheres to the center’s philosophy.
  • Maintains an effective clinical organizational structure and delegates appropriate authority for completion of assigned responsibilities.
  • Functions as leader of multi-disciplinary Treatment Team/staffing meetings.
  • Develops and Implements plans for Performance Improvement as needed.
  • Evaluates quality of treatment program on an ongoing basis.
  • Develops cost-effective methods to provide medically necessary therapeutic services.
  • Provides for staff development (i.e., supervision, educational, etc.)
  • Facilitates communication with ancillary services.
  • Recruits and interviews new employees.
  • Attends clinical and administrative meetings to integrate inter-departmental sharing of information.
  • Meets with Director of Nursing, Program Directors on a weekly, and on an as needed basis.
  • Interviews, selects, supervises and evaluates students completing field placements.
  • Build positive relationships with staff, physicians, vendors and consultants.
  • Works collaboratively with Medical Director, Human Resources Director, Quality Assurance Director and other managers and directors in order to develop, implement, evaluate, and maintain a healthy treatment environment.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clinical policies and procedures, and ability to communicate these clearly and accurately to others at all levels of the facility.
  • Ability to assure the confidentiality of patient information and the assurance of patient rights through the development, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of a well educated and caring facility staff.
  • Displays ability to direct and supervise facility activities and assure the high quality presence and maintenance of patient medical records.
  • Maintains an effective and efficient daily staffing pattern within budgetary constraints.
  • Is responsible for ensuring clinical staff meets educational/licensure requirements
  • Evaluates clinical staff based on specified performance standards, on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to changes in the work environment.
  • Follows Infection Control Guidelines at all times.
  • Reports personal symptoms of suspected illness or contagious diseases to the Program Nurse.
  • Completes and forwards copy of Incident Reports and any other safety/risk documents as indicated.
  • Provides a safe, therapeutic environment for staff and patients.
  • Initiates appropriate counseling and disciplinary action for infraction of policy in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates the impact of therapeutic interventions upon the therapeutic milieu.
  • Assists in formulating standards for patients care.
  • Collaborates with the medical staff to coordinate medical and nursing management of patient care.
  • Evaluates patient care daily by assessing patients, and reviewing nursing documentation.
  • Supervises all program activities, assuring comfort and safety of the patients.
  • Attend daily clinical meeting with the entire treatment team to discuss patient issues/needs, treatment plan implementation and level of care changes.
  • Attend daily management meetings to discuss patient care with the entire management team.
  • Attend weekly patient care meetings with Clinical Director and CAO
  • Attend monthly performance improvement meetings
  • Collaborates with staff psychiatrists and medical physicians at least weekly to discuss patient care and evaluate the psychiatric and medical treatment provided in the program for all patients.
  • Assist in periodic review of policies, procedures, medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations
  • Supervise all levels of care changes and provide peer reviews when required
  • Review and audit all medical charts in their entirety prior to submitting for insurance reviews/audits
  • Assist in preparation of charts for insurance appeals
  • Manage master daily patient census and distribute to treatment team on a daily basis

Qualifications:


  • Graduated from an accredited medical school.
  • A minimum of 3 years in a supervisory position, familiarity with JCAHO, DCF and other indicated healthcare standards are necessary.
  • Communication skills to relate to all levels of facility staff.
  • Self-motivated and confident.
  • Application of Continuous Quality Improvement and Performance Improvement Team philosophy and ability to develop and apply organizational strategies.
  • Licensed to practice medicine, e.g. Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) in the appropriate state, as applicable, required.
  • Board Certification is required in General Psychiatry. Board Certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine –Addiction Medicine or the AOA Addiction Certification is preferred.
  • Must have a DEA and DATA 2000 Waiver in the state working
