JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:
Supervisors, Credit Review are responsible for assessing the credit quality of loan portfolios through the review of individual loans and cultivation of an intimate knowledge of all management information available regarding the portfolio as a whole and various aspects thereof. This position is responsible ensuring that all credit reviews are handled in an efficient, timely manner, for identifying trends/issues within their department segment and determining how these issues should be addressed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee Credit Review Analyst reviews of diversified loans to ensure that acceptable credit standards are maintained and that loans conform to established company policy, identifying potential loan losses to help establish an adequate loan loss reserve calculation.
  • Determine annual review schedule for their respective segment and adjust as needed.
  • Perform reviews on loan relationships, reporting results and making recommendations to improve credit quality to include, but is not limited to, documentation, compliance with loan policy and procedures, credit and underwriting and interfaces with the lender on their responses
  • Assembles raw loan portfolio data from diverse sources into meaningful reporting information for use in quantifying and assessing asset quality of the portfolio for the segments assigned to them
  • Informs supervisor of discrepancies in the perceived risk ratings as compared to the current risk rating assigned to the loan/relationship
  • Prepares and distributes formal reports derived from the review and analysis of information obtained presenting both quantitative and qualitative evaluations of the asset quality of the overall portfolio and various segments and or aspects of the portfolio and offering recommendations to effect improvement.
  • Assists with gathering information, preparing reports, and completing special projects as needed.
  • Ensures weekly memos covering review findings/ progress are provided to line management.
  • Serve as a member of the Due Diligence team for future acquisitions, if called upon.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and applicable laws; Provides guidance and oversight to and is responsible for the coordination and evaluation of the assigned team. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring and training associates; planning, assigning and directing work; performance management; associate compensation; approving expense reports; addressing concerns and resolving problems
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting.
  • 8 years related experience with at least five years in a credit review capacity and 3 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Advanced training which can include either Loan Review Certification, Risk Certification, CPA designation or Graduate Banking School required.
  • Understands business implications of decisions and displays an orientation to profitability.
  • Expert-level understanding of a number of functional areas; Credit, Finance, Compliance, Legal, Retail and others as needed
  • Ability to apply conceptual intent of loan/deposit/payment transactions to practical situations
  • Multi-state knowledge of laws, regulatory requirements and compliance rules
  • Ability to formulate sound conclusions and recommend optimal course of action based on analysis
ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines
  • Ability to operate related equipment to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions
  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 10 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an “undue hardship” then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
