Job description
Drug Abuse Alternatives Center seeks registered or certified experienced substance abuse counselors in several of our programs (Detox is a Residential) including Outpatient and REAP to conduct screening and assessments; provide individual and group counseling; develop treatment plans; create and maintain client charts in compliance with regulatory agencies and funder; facilitate relapse prevention and continuing care services, and provide follow-up and aftercare counseling and case management. The hours will vary depending on the program. The schedule could require weekends/evenings/overnights in Residential Detox Program. Outpatients are mostly 9 to 5 with rotating evenings so must be flexible.

The open positions will include the following.
  • The intake counselor will assess those entering the treatment program and conduct comprehensive screenings and assessments to determine program eligibility.
  • A substance Abuse Counselor with prior experience working with clients in a substance abuse treatment program is preferred and conducting individual and group counseling.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Substance Abuse Registration/Certification from a State of California Accredited Institution; RAS, CAS, CAADE, CADTP, CCAPP, etc. (Required).
  • Demonstrated experience providing substance abuse treatment services is required, with criminal justice populations (state parole and probation) preferred.
  • Experience with evidence-based substance abuse treatment models and an understanding of treatment modalities is expected.
  • Knowledge of community resources and services is preferred.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain a criminal justice security clearance and 2 years of SUD program and case management experience.
  • Knowledge of drug and alcohol addiction and knowledge of trauma-informed care.
  • Ability to do data entry into various electronic systems.
  • Professionalism, punctuality, flexibility, and reliability.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conducts comprehensive screenings and assessments to determine program eligibility.
  • Group facilitation skills using evidence-based practices and strategies.
  • Coordinates with medical service providers to ensure clients receive all required medical care as needed.
  • Coordinates with mental health service providers to ensure all necessary care and medication are provided as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Pay: Registered $23-24/hour, Certified $26/hour depending on experience.
