Student Assistant IRES Participants Research Grant Zambia
Job description
Job Summary
The 2023 IRES participants will join the GCSU NSF-funded research project and participate in the planning of field work, travel to Zambia in June for about 6 weeks, participate in all research and other related activities while in Zambia, sign up for continued research in the Fall of 2023, and write a brief report on the experience in Zambia.
Responsibilities
Research planning - 20
Will meet every other week in the spring semester to plan and prepare for travel to Zambia
Field and lab research - 80
Will collect data both in the field and lab, process samples, analyze data, process results and write a report
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
College student
Other Required Qualifications
Flexible, open-minded, able to conduct research under various conditions, able to work with a diverse group of people, able to work with soils, plants and water. At least 18 years of age
Required Experience
Interest in phytoremediation research and able to travel to Zambia and continue research in the fall of 2023

Sophomore or junior, senior if planning to start graduate school in the fall 2024, first year master's student

Computer literacy and college level reading comprehension, good communication skills
