Marathon TS is looking for Strength and Conditioning coaches to support the US Army in Fort Polk North, LA. Qualified candidates must have either a SCCC or CSCS certification.

This is the coolest job in Strength and Conditioning Coaching! " The experience and credentials you will develop in this position are extraordinary. The actual conditioning will go far beyond basic weight and cardio-- and will include outdoors activities, and may include working with 10th Mountain Division, some of the most experienced and specialized soldiers in the world.

· Strength and Conditioning Coaches will work as part of the US Army Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) Performance Team to develop and implement a comprehensive, periodized education and services program integrated and synchronized with the Brigade's training calendars. Success is determined by the Brigade's ability to perform its combat mission.
· Strength and Conditioning Coaches will perform services in accordance with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or the Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) Scope of Practice.
· Coaches will be embedded at the Brigade level. Most work will be performed in a Military training environment (i.e. fitness centers/gyms, Brigade or administrative areas, outdoors, ranges, field training environments).
· Coaches will observe Brigade (and components, like Battalion, company, platoon, squad, team) specific training events (e.g., obstacle courses, hand-to-hand combat practice, training areas).
· Support quality assurance efforts, ensuring all work performance aligns with program objectives
· Strength and Conditioning Coaches may be embedded within program performance teams across Brigades at various Government installations

Required Skills

· Bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited college or university; it is highly desired that the degree is in a related field.
· Must possess a passing score from the Board of Certification (BOC) by the NSCA as a CSCS or by the CSCCA as a SCCC.
· Have three years of relevant Strength Conditioning Coaching (SCC) work experience within the last five years. Relevant experience includes developing and executing task and environment specific functional injury control and health/well-being programs for groups of athletes or DoD/Department of Homeland Security/Department of Justice entities focused on a common sport or mission performance goal. Please note - Employment related to internships or graduate work for only up to one year is considered as relevant experience.
· Have a current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association or the client with Automated External Defibrillators (AED) certification. Certification cards must display the American Heart Association, the client emblem. Please note - Web-based classes do not meet required standards.
· Must be a U.S. citizen (required by US Army).
· Must have the ability to read, write and speak English effectively with US Army Soldiers and H2F staff
· Candidate must be able to pass and maintain Tier 1 security clearance investigation
· Be physically able to lift and manipulate loads and weight plates up to 45 pounds.
· Sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity such that they can relate to a variety of Soldiers from diverse backgrounds
· Ability to operate a computer utilizing Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel.
· Must be able to navigate and operate with unit SharePoint sites.

  • Passing score from the NSCA or CSCCA certification boards (Required)
  • Certification in Basic Life Support from Am Heart Assoc or Red Cross (Required)

Desired Skills

· Experience providing forward musculoskeletal (MSK) care, early medical intervention, injury prevention (IP) and performance optimization services.
· Candidates must be physically able to hike in an austere environment and terrain (e.g., rocky, no running water, no shelter, no bathroom, no climate control, inclement weather, loud, smoky, etc.) while carrying their own backpack with necessary supplies on occasion (< 20% of the time).
· Providing forward MSK care in the training environment, outside of the clinical setting, minimizing lost training time and ensuring early identification of injuries.
