ABOUT THE POSITION:

As a market innovator, MISUMI is transforming component procurement. Our proprietary on-demand manufacturing software eliminates the need for 2D drawings, and instead uses uploaded 3D models to provide near-instant quotations and rapid product delivery. The Strategic Sourcing Assistant Manager is responsible for helping to develop MISUMI’s North American procurement and supply chain strategy for our Digital Manufacturing business unit. In this role you will source new U.S. - based suppliers and manage current suppliers of industrial components and products. This role is based in Schaumburg, IL. We have a hybrid schedule of three days in the office and two remote. You will help MISUMI achieve its growth targets by:

  • Collaborating effectively with Sales, Engineering, and Product Management teams for seamless communication of business needs.
  • Developing, honing, and executing new and improved procurement strategies to ensure Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets are achieved.
  • Establishing strategic supplier relationships and negotiate pricing and contract terms.
  • Regularly reviewing supplier pricing, quality, and performance to ensure strategic intent is being met throughout the supply chain.
  • Supporting the start-up process of new products through timely planning of materials and components.
  • Managing and controlling departmental projects.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by manager

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • BS in Engineering or other technical field with equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain & supplier management within industrial businesses required.
  • Experience in low volume, drawing-based business model procurement.
  • Understanding of mechanical component manufacturing: sheet metal laser cutting, metal lathe cutting.
  • Extensive project management experience required.
  • Outstanding leadership, organizational teamwork, and mentorship skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiation skills required.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Willing to travel up to 50% throughout North America and Asia.
  • Knowledge of machined, fabricated, and welded parts preferred.
